I’m the least sportiest person ever but I did enjoy some beach sports. Rounders and volleyball were my fave. I’ll still play a game of rounders on a Sunday afternoon with a bbq on the beach!
Horse riding- I’m currently the size of 6 double decker buses so I’m sure that would be classed as animal cruelty if I started again. Maybe one day!

"football and was very good at it,,, age gets in the way now joe "
I think I've heard of walking football for older gents that still want to play 🤔 that's not a dig btw! Genuinely meant to be a helpful comment 😅 |

Cricket, dance, swimming squads, rowing.
Swimming was very time intensive and the workload of secondary school got in the way.
Cricket and dance, my ineptitude got in the way, I gave up.
Rowing, it was a limited time thing when I was at that one school |

Cricket, football, rugby and golf. Played county cricket as a junior and decent standard at an adult.
Still play friendly cricket, but now a league umpire. Golf I still play. The rest went a long time ago. |

"I played 'hiding in the bushes until the rest of the class doing cross country lapped back around so I can join in for the last 5 minutes '. It was an exhausting sport. "
I walked that shit, and they couldn't force me otherwise |

I used to do lots; football, hockey, netball, rounders, long distance running and throwing (discus). Teenage/young adult life got in the way, I discovered alcohol and going out. Nowadays I more of a hiker. |

Golf. It wasn’t something I was remotely interested in, but the only thing I could pretend to have in common with my dad
I was surprisingly good at it, but I can’t see myself chasing around a tiny ball in the grass anytime soon. |

Played football, rugby, cricket, and Gaelic football to very high standards. International in one but not for the UK. Not bad with a racquet in my hand either.
Far too old now. Happy to walk unassisted at the moment to be honest. |

"And do you still play them? If not, what got in the way? Do you see yourself picking it up again?"
Lots.
Football
Hockey
Rounders
Discus
Shot put
Tennis
Netball
Never going to be able to do any of those again, apart from tennis but wheelchair tennis is bloody hard.
I took up wheelchair basketball but a combination of time and distance from the training venue from our new house has meant I've dropped off that too.
I want to do more wheelchair sports but it's hard to fit it in. So many things are far away |

I've played football, rugby, squash, badminton, tennis, golf, athletics and if you count skiing, that too.
I still play 7 a side football and Vets 11 a side. I don't enjoy the gym, so I'll try and play some form of sport as long as I can. |

Athletics, the 100m, 200m and relay. Did it for 8years.
Stopped as:
1) I knew my limits and I kept coming 4th/5th
2) it was getting to the stage where you decide to either stop or take it seriously. I wasnt good enough to keep it up.
Bloody lovee it though. I still get nervous watching them in the blocks for the 100m on TV. |

I need to add horse riding to my sports actually. I rode from age 3 and still do very occasionally, if and when I can get myself onboard. It's getting nigh on impossible now, even with assistance so that's another sport in my past, probably. Sad times. |

Hockey until I broke my nose. Or more accurately another player’s stick broke my nose.
Canoeing
That’s it. I was shit at every other sport. Not sure I was that great at hockey - I was just very aggressive. |

I did that with a pack of b&h tucked into my gym shorts…. At least the breathlessness was honest |

I played hockey and badminton mostly at school, but also played football at college.
I climbed regularly from my teens to early 20s as well as playing badminton and squash.
Then family and life happened ... |

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe |
Motorcycle Trials Riding. Did it throughout my teenage years. Gave up when I was at college. Had another go in my late 30s, had a bad accident which cost me a year off work, so sold the bike before I was tempted to have another go. |

I loved rounders as a casual sport to play! You do strike me as a horse girl too so hope you can... Get back in the saddle... Yeah |

But I ran, cycled and swum a lot and still do quite a bit. "
I never would've thought it! I suppose those some good activities to get into though because they are pretty much sustainable throughout your life |

Snooker is an interesting one to get into. I imagine most kids preferred pool, what made you prefer snooker?"
Always loved watching it on Telly. Good at pool as well. Golf also - forgot to mention that earlier |

Wasn’t big on traditional sports such as football, cricket and rugby as a teenager. I did spend a disproportional amount of time doing motocross or skateboarding when not chancing girls. I’m nearly 61 now and still get to do all three but know where near enough these days. |

Fair play, I always admire anyone who can do long distance running. I have a runner's body, but not a runner's stamina |

Hiking is still a brilliant way to keep fit and you can do it at your own pace while taking in some incredible scenery |

I was good at every sport - I played football at a good level and I ran for my school. I was my school cricket captain. At lunchtimes I’d play badminton.
When I left school football was my vice playing both days at the weekend for teams and also in a 5 a-side works team.
I stopped running after I done the London Marathon as I hit the wall around mile 22 and it broke me mentally so I’ve never done long distance since.
Once I became self employed I stopped football as I couldn’t risk missing days off work so I took up squash and became really good at that.
I then done hiking and that maintained my fitness - climbing hills is fantastic fitness.
I still play 7 a-side, do bootcamp and last year we both started mountain biking which C raced a lot when she was younger.
Need to wait for the lighter nights and we’ll be out on our bikes a lot more.

Basketball, hockey, hurling.
Never played any for long, got coerced onto the basketball team purely because I was tall.
No intention of playing any of them again I'm awful at them 🤣 |

It does impress me to see people skilled in multiple sports. Especially when they could play any at a high level! |

"Hockey, netball, athletics, rounders and later rowing at uni.
I wouldn't be able to do any now without falling over, especially trying to get into and stay afloat in a boat. Balance is a bitch."
I suppose when you practice constantly it be ones like second nature but that struggle will always be there when getting back into it, right? |

I used to sail at a high level. Had (unrealistic) ambitions of doing the Olympics. Then I saw a kid who was just orders of magnitude faster than anyone else and I instantly realised it was a forlorn hope.
It was only several years later that I heard the name again. Some guy called Ben Ainslie. Not sure whatever happened to him. |

"Martial arts.
I’ve been doing various styles since I was 8 😃
I wish I had done a martial art when I was younger! Which variant is your favourite?"
I think they all have something to offer whilst some are more practical than others (Muay Thai, BJJ etc)
I’ve always been drawn to the flashy styles also.
In this regards, the kicks as found in Taekwondo are truly a thing of beauty 🥰 |

As a kid I wasn't that into sports barring going to gymnastics classes. I used to be so supple that I could get the soles of my feet behind my ears these days unfortunately I can't get the front of my legs past the front of my belly
But I mainly play darts having been playing since I was 21 (at time of writing): presently Monday nights, a fortnightly Sunday (mostly admin for that but play if team are short) & a knockout 1 Saturday every calendar month |

Football until around 13-14 had issues with growing pains, at the time I was on the books at Oldham (1994-1995).
Stopped playing and when I could run again I took up athletics. Didn’t realise I was any good until I was at college.
Ran cross country mainly as a teen, came fifth in the same race Mo Farah won!
I then went on to run for my corps/regiment and the army when I joined at 17.
Left at 22 and suffered a triple leg fracture, almost lost the leg, was told I’d never run again, since competed 7 marathons, fastest was 3:03:52 and even went to Kenya running!
But those days are behind me, too many injuries.
Just getting into cycling to get the weight down! |

Footy, went onto get into reserves of a professional club.
Rugby league played for yrs, not Rugby union thats boring.
Boxing until I learned harsh lesson. I was in my teens thought I was the bees knees won quite a few fights.
Then got put in against a giant I knocked him down and thought that was it sadly he got back up and knocked me all over the place.
Not only was I beaten my ego and confidence took a hammering 😁 |
