I don't understand why so many people put a legal statement on their profile that names a social media site rather than Fab, have they simply not read it before posting it ? I have asked people but got ignored

A lot of solo profiles also mention "our photos" in the 'legal' warning

Probably because they see it on other people's profiles...

People often seem to "follow crowd" rather than thinking for themselves.

There's often things that people put on their profile that I don't understand why they would, but to be honest it doesn't trouble me, and I certainly wouldn't waste my time asking them to explain it. K.

It's a silly load of rubbish that makes me think those people are naive if they believe in it.

It's very important you know other wise people will steal your photos and put them on farce book with daft captions under them ...well that's what I do with people's photos I've nicked off here..😹

Central

Usually preceded by 'I never know what to say in these things' plus maybe their age and gender and stuff that's listed already

It gives them comfort of some sort, to have put what's copied from some other numpty.

Manchester(ish).

It's hilarious, people are gullible.

There's a whole wormhole of how inaccurate each legal statement is.

So far I've counted the following.

The European Human Rights one.

The Facebook one.

The BCS one

The ICC code one.

The Sydney Uni one.

I get over invested in the individual silliness of them all.

I guarantee no one in the history of fab has ever followed through and sued anyone for any of the garbage that is contained within the warning

As if anyone would use their photos anyway.....

It's wishful thinking

We use it as a handy filter

If it’s on your profile, it’s unlikely we’ll get along

Fab has, for as long as I can remember, had this in the FAQ's

"We've noticed a legal disclaimer paragraph that some people have on their profiles. Should we have one too? What are they about? Do they do any good?

The "legal disclaimer" is pointless nonsense and all does is take up extra space on our servers. Please remove it if you have it on your profile. If you're worried about privacy please set your account to be hidden from non-registered users on your privacy page (this also hides it from search engines but may take a week or two to drop out of search) and remove the notice (and encourage others to do likewise).

Common sense advice would be NOT to put any information on your profile (here, or on any such site) that could identify you or that you don't want to become public! So for your own benefit, don't post phone numbers, real names or email / instant message addresses on your profile that people might see or "Google".

Some people may put non-identifying pics on their public profile but keep face pics private or for friends, for example."

I often think there's a definite correlation between people that still put it in their profiles and think it does anything from a legal standpoint, and the number of people who repeatedly ask questions already answered in the site FAQ's, such as 'why don't people reply' and 'why am I getting messages from people I'm not interested in'.

Often there seems to be more words in the disclaimer than text about the owner on some profiles. 🤷‍♂️

We do get quite excited over a detailed profile and then quickly disappointed when it’s the legal disclaimers 😬🙄
