I know, I know what a boring topic but help a lady out

I adore Molton Brown shower gel - various scents- just gorgeous but it's a little on the pricey side, so looking for alternatives

So what's your favourite go-to shower gel?

Thanks lovelies 😘

Yes, MB does seem to have got much more expensive. Still love the scents though.

I use a lot of Korres - they're really good value for the quality, I think!

"Original source minty tea tree stuff - makes yer balls and bum tingle! "

I remember some woman did a hilarious online product review for that once! Had to go find it....

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Um, Original Source… can we talk?

I’d like to take you back to around 6.45am this morning, when I stepped into my bath, and found that my usual, rather innocuous bottle of shower gel (Waitrose essentials, Rose) had run out. A tad irritating, but fortuitously, I had a solution close to hand. A brand new, unopened bottle of your very own Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel. My bodily cleanliness was assured once more. I breathed a sigh of relief.

I took the Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel and began to work it into a lather. I applied it to first one leg, then the other, and shaved them diligently. (Yes, feel free to be impressed at my commitment to body defoliation at 6.45am on a Wednesday morning. I was too.) So far, so good.

I washed my arms and shaved underneath them. I washed my neck, breasts, stomach and back. Thus far, it had been a positively first class bathing experience.

And then.

AND THEN.

Oh. Dear. God.

MY VAGINA WAS ABLAZE.

For a moment, I wasn’t entirely sure what had happened. Had I repeated the never to be forgotten error when I managed to apply hair removal cream which was strictly not for front bottoms to my front bottom? Had a stray spark inadvertently set light to my pubic thatch?

BECAUSE IT FUCKING FELT LIKE IT.

Yes, Original Source, your innocuous looking green bottle of so called shower gel, it turns out, is an absolute fucking liability. MY FLAPS WERE ON FUCKING FIRE. I had a quick look at the ingredients list to see if it contained gasoline. It did not. There was a warning though. ā€˜KEEP AWAY FROM EYES.’ Keep away from eyes? KEEP AWAY FROM EYES? Frankly, my eyes were the least of my problems right now.

I frantically scrubbed my flaps, which by now felt as though they were being ceremoniously scrubbed by ants wearing ice skates laced with chilli sauce. ā€˜7,929 tingling leaves’ claimed the front of the bottle. Tingling? TINGLING? This wasn’t tingling my minge. It was starting a fucking bush fire down there. (Pun entirely intended. You can thank me later.)

Some twelve hours later, my front bottom has finally calmed down, though may well be suffering from as yet unconfirmed PTSD. My eyes have eventually stopped watering. And so, in the interests of public safety, I thought I would pen you this missive.

The Ordinaryā„¢ — for every day mild cleansing, and doesn't strip the skin of its natural oils.

Also, the Eau d'Orange shower cleanser from Hermés™, which complements their cologne.

I also find most shower gels from L'Occitaneā„¢ quite approachable and luxuriant and, price per ml, cheaper than Molton Brownā„¢. (or 'Molton' Lava as I call them, as they burn a hole through my wallet). šŸ™‚šŸ‘£

"Pecksniffs. Lidl & Aldi do copies of Loccitan, Lush, Jo Malone etc"

Ā·

The 'copy' is limited to the scent and nothing more. The composition, how little they actually lather up and how much more dispensing into your palm is required is quite evident, on top of conditioning your skin, or lack thereof.

Copying a tin of Heinzā„¢ beans is one thing, but my skin deserves more than to smell similar to L'Occitane but feel like B&Q sandpaper as a consequence.

I'm afraid I'm the same as you OP in that I love Molton Brown, Fiery Pink Pepper being my absolute favourite. I buy it but only use it when I'm going out somewhere nice etc, definitely not for daily use.

My daily one I like Imperial Leather Bergamot and Sea Salt.

And so, in the interests of public safety, I thought I would pen you this missive."

Genuinely, I've had a similar experience with the Original Source Mint, but obviously involving the sensitive areas of the penis instead. I won't buy or use it.

Shower gel is a total con. Most of it washes off instantly.

A decent hard soap is much more economical.

We love and use Mysore Sandalwood soap which we buy in India. Cheap over here but very expensive in the UK at around £5 per bar.

I prefer to use Pine Tar Soap instead of shower gel.

I do use gels when I run out of the soap, but only cheap supermarket brands

I am definitely a soap person (and so much cheaper!) but for now I am adoring my Le Labo Rose 31 shower gel. It is £48 a bottle lol so not really a cheaper alternative!

Love, love Dove soap and Safeguard I bring from the US.
