Correct. It was enough just trying to navigate the inaccessible world and workplace but now apparently it'll all just be better (for the taxpayer, of which I am one) if I just worked a bit harder.

I am ashamed with some of that. I know people who nearly took their life last time and already the last few days has made them extremely ill. I made my feings clear on another thread of what I think of this and the peoe that supports systems and processes that are blantantly a direct attack on tbe vulnerable just and try to justify as fair as might catch a few people out. Sorry you made to feel that way. We are not all like them. Also O am sorry but will no longer comment or read other comments. |

We no longer live in a society nor a civilization. What we have these days you can't even class as a civilised society.
What we have is a society of civilians claiming to live in a civilised society yet can't agree on basic fundamental principles to live by to even come close to be able to claim we are even close to being civilized.

What is society ? Conform to most peoples ideas way of life ?
My thoughts are yes due to my age . People were more say friendly . Where I grew up ( council house housing estate ) People in road knew each other. ( only thirty houses) Large families . Largest had ten children.
Yet house I live in now , road for forty two years. Yes neighbours have moved , passed away. But yes may get a wave , _ello but that is all . My next door neighbour yes who lived next door all the time since moving in . We do speak ensure all ok. New other neighbours . As said hardly see or speak with.
So is this new society ? |

I find trying to fit into a group, clique, organisation is not as beneficial as some may think. They carry alot of baggage.
Gay rights and Pride organisations have baggage , political issues going back over hundred years. I don't go on Pride marches and don't champion gay rights and I still have a happy fun life.
If I'm not someone's cup of tea I move on. Life's too short. I find more friends by my my personality as opposed to imposing myself.
Yeh I've suffered setbacks and blows but there's alot more in a worse state.
It doesn't stop me fighting my corner, however, if I need to.

The green paper announcement and the thinking behind it are warped in my opinion and lives of disabled people and carers are hard enough under current systems.
Fraud under PIP was 0%, there were bigger issues with DWP errors paying people than anyone cheating the system.
I don’t understand why a Labour government that was elected on ‘change’ is being worse to elderly and disabled people than the preceding government.
I do hope that response to green paper and the impact assessment when it finally appears are enough to bin this horrible idea. |

Because they are absolutely shite at greasing the palms of potential investors in the uk, tories made shady deals, but they were never made to scrape the barrel and tax the poor and needy. The wealthy dont support labour, they are blue through and through, next election will be a landslide blue victory, we just need to hope labour hasn't fucked it up too far by then  |

I’ll just sit in my corner trying to surround myself with people on the same wavelength but that’s just because to me it’s just fragmented all over the place. Most places I look for society’s views jar, and it’s a bit sad in terms of how we got here, but maybe it’s me  |

No, I never have, but I've always managed to find other misfits to connect with so I'm not completely isolated. Most of my friends are ND and have ND children. The cuts to disability benefits and plans to have us all working more has us all very afraid for our children.
I can't help but wonder how the people supporting these cuts will feel when their disabled co-workers push themselves to the point of illness, only to be signed off work, leaving them with even more to do 🤷♀️ |

Every day i feel further and further from it. All you have to do is look on any social media platform and the rhetoric that get said about me and my community is enough to make you feel that no matter what i do it will never be enough. The hatred spread is so much and deep that its soul destroying at times and makes me often question whats the point if the world wants to turn is back on me in my time if need.

If I could afford it I think I’d actually consider leaving the UK, but I can’t so not that the grass is always greener on the other side anyway, but it might have been cheaper!  |

No i don't feel part of society these days from what i see when i'm out and about. All i see is disrespect and laziness, drugs and thieving all going on in plain sight, the local society has evolved into a cesspit of crime with no comeuppance or deterrent from the authorities.
If this is what society has become then i don't want to be part of it. |

I do feel part of society but I realise the ever growing gap as I get older. It's not that i have become a witless cottontop overnight it's that people assume you to be one based on age.... it's not too bad though as I am very active in my community and people never suspect it's the nice little old lady that did them wrong .

Always thought I was, but after a “Normal” night out In town to a few bars and clubs for the first time in ages, it seems the world has moved on and off onto some weird tangent and I don’t fit in anymore (which I’m fine with as I didn’t much go a bundle on it anyway)

I've never given it any thought. Depends what you mean by society?
Society in general or just what is happening around me?
The former is irrelevant if it doesn't influence or affect me directly.
I feel as much a part of the latter as I wish to be.
I'm part of my society of family and friends but I've never been one to follow trends so it's more than possible I don't fit in with some people's definition of society.
I'm part of my local community in as much as I shop locally and eat out but beyond that I'm not actively involved. |

I feel I am being distanced by society since I retired. Maybe some it is my own fault as well though. I can do things whenever I want now and not have to wait until the weekend or holiday periods and as such friends and old work colleagues tend to think you won’t want to do something or forget about you altogether. |

No far from it, I feel that the covid lockdowns really disjointed society. I don't feel comfortable in mainstream society, it's almost as if I'm invisable. I like smaller groups of friends who get me and who appreciate me.
I actually love interacting here on the forums, people are nice chatting and always seem to respect your opinion even if not agreeing |

By society, I meant the collection of human beings that you share your immediate existence with. Plus all the institutions that surround and underpin your existence in the UK or wherever you live/hang out. |

But I do feel part of society. I live in a historic Tory constituency. They've elected bnp councillors here.
When I came out I expected torches and pitchforks but everyone's been rather lovely. I have more friends than I ever thought possible, people recognise me, miss me, look out for me.
I never had that as a man.
I'm accepted and I try to give it back. I'll always stop for a chat, online I try to be a positive voice and lift up the I can. I want to give back the love and acceptance I've been given.
I guess that makes me part of society.
I don't even know what's going on with benefits even though it'll affect me directly. I'll find out eventually but it's not going to stop me living my life.

Lol! People assume all sorts of things about what you should be when you do have a child. When we had our daughter, and went to the malls in Johannesburg, we literally used to get pointed at - the weird goths with a baby in a pink babygro. We were sitting in a coffee shop once, and we could hear people saying "do you think it's theirs?" Like we'd nicked a baby to sacrifice to satan. 🙄

Depends which society we involve ourselves in
My town is not worth investing my time but I'm a member of big online community on discord, and a number of people from around the world who have listened to me talk about my life and my experiences have approached me seeking help with their mental health and understanding themselves better.
It's a very rewarding and fulfilling feeling to have people look up to me like that and trust me with their life's problems that they otherwise keep private from the wider community. It does feel like a huge responsibility at the same time as I have to be so careful not to give people the wrong advice. But it does give me a sense of purpose within the community I'm in rather than being a passive member |
