90's gaming classics
Jump to: Newest in thread
Saw a post earlier about cartoons everyone grew up with and got me thinking about games I grew up with. (Nerdy kid alert!!)
Currently building a raspberry pi retro games machine and wondered what the good people of fab would pick??
Going for the obvious snes / mega drive classics but any got any hidden gems to recommend??
Thursday evening with way too much time on my hands!! |

4 player Micromachines on Sega megadrive was a dangerous game to play.
And golden eye on the N64 playing 4 player splitscreen free for all on golden gun mode with big heads was more competitive than Esports. |

"MDK on the PS1, the mirrored graphics and Tommy Tallorico scored, has elements of Bond, Star Trek and The Simpsons. The industrial OST of this is amazing and is so underrated. A proper soundtrack."
Had MDK on the pc. Forgot about this. Absolutely class. |

"If you like punching pixel art figures, try Golden Axe (and sequel) from the Mega Drive, then Killer Instinct from Super Nintendo."
Golden was awesome! I'm wondering if you ever got to play Splatterhouse as well 🤔 |

"Okay there seems to be some Sega megadrive fans here... who remembers Ecco the Dolphin?
Yes, never finished it. I'm going to have to go back and try that one again."
Me neither, being a kid it was really hard for me to play and could never get passed some of the levels |

Was it actually possible to finish... I remember just being permanently stuck as a kid. |

No idea but I think maybe that was the idea for it to be stupidly hard to complete |

Wolf 3D
Soul Reaver on PS1 was a favourite.
Goldeneye like pretty much everyone else at the time.
Zelda (never liked it in 3d format)
The shoot 'em up/run and gun types stress me out now 😆 I only have tolerance for Civilization and the like! |

Same. I think it was always one of the ice levels that got me. Probably worse at it now. |

I grew up on AoE as my first PC game and then AoE2 dropped and sunk years of my life into it 😂
I still got AoE2 with the expansions for steam as well as the AoE1 remake |

Also should have said the early FIFA games.
The ones where you could foul the goalie and score a goal and also run away when the ref tried to book you and he’d run after you.
You could also turn off bookings and foul the crap out of other players and injured them with no punishment. It was great fun 😆 |

It's been said but micro machines really holds up.
Otherwise, Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Broken Sword, Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid, Banjo Kazooie, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Looooots of good choices though, depends on your preferences. |

Some of these already mentioned, but some personal nostalgic favorites;
• Micro Machines
• Super Probotector (aka Contra)
• Streets of Rage
• Mortal Kombat
• Street Fighter
• Sensible Soccer
Back when life was simpler.. but the games were rock hard! |

"Sonic CD. It was good and probably one of the few games that did well on the Sega CD. They should have jusy kept it as the big Sonic game for the Sega Saturn"
I also think I still have a copy of Sonic CD. |

"Cannon Fodder. Sega Rally Championship. Combat Lynx. Commando. Excite Bike. Elite.
I'm fairly sure I have a copy of Sega Rally Championship for the Saturn somewhere around here still."
Yes!
I had this on the Saturn too, absolutely loved in and played for hours on it.
Thought it was so realistic at the time but have seen YouTube videos of it recently and it looks pants now 😆 |

Probably California Games, where you had a selection of events, Surfing, BMX, Half Pipe, "foot bag" (essentially just keepie-uppies), Frisbee, and i think a roller skating one |
