How influenced are you by things
Do you buy glossy magazines. Follow the kardashinas and other celebrities. Spend your days on social media? Do you follow fashion and trends? Are you influenced by other people's thoughts on you?
Or do you not give a single shit |

Interesting....
I am not influenced by anyone or anything. I'm my own person with my own character, charm and morals.
That may make me a bit weird but hey I'm just me doing it my own way 😁 |

I don't buy newspapers or magazines and I only use social media to keep up with customer and business news.
I'm not influenced by my peers so I'm hardly going to be influenced by online characters.
I've always had the courage of my convictions and never followed trends or fashions.
I'm a lifelong teetotaler and have never smoked even though every one of my friends did both.
I don't watch movies or TV just because they are popular and in many cases will avoid them completely simply because they are popular.

Im influenced by fashion. I've always loved fashion and wearing fashionable clothes.
I don't think i can avoid outside influences in other areas either. A genuine original thinker is a rare person.
I don't care very much about what anyone but my loved ones think of me though |

This is the only social media i have i don't read magazines or keep up with trends i wear things that i like not because someone in a magazine has told me to like it.
I think it's more of a younger generation thing you can see just by looking at the reality stars with their lip fillers cheek fillers botox turkey teeth etc..
It's quite sad that they are all starting to morph into looking very similar theirs not much originality anymore. |

I think we should always be open to new influences. There is so much we don't know or areas we can improve our thinking and behaviour that I don't see the merit in just sticking rigidly to your existing ways of being.
The real trick is filtering out the positive influences from the negative ones, not closing yourself off. |

Genuinely couldn't give a shit about influencer/celeb culture. I'm even dubious about people who do food/restaurant reviews on insta etc now as everything is secretly an advert/paid for. The rise of influencer culture has been truly baffling to me, it's like people have lost all their critical thinking ability to see they're being sold a dream/lie. Late stage capitalism in action. |

Exactly. If you don't take other things into account you remain stuck in a very narrow mindset |

To answer the Social media question specifically, I've unconvered some amazing writers, artists and thinkers on Twitter/x who have greatly enriched by life and definitely influenced my thoughts, so a big positive for me. |

WHEREVER I LAY MY HAT |
Influencers have played a part in where I visit (countries, bars, restaurants) but because I see something that is of interest to me, not because someone tells me it's where it's at.
Celebs, fashionistas and people plugging a 'lifestyle' have no influence over me whatsoever |

No to glossy magazines.
Celebrities some of the people whose talents whom I appreciate - I watch their content be it music, political or philosophical commentary etc. I am aware some of them have a celebrity status, but it's pretty irrelevant to me.
Social media this is about it - I think of it as an internet forum.
Fashion and trends 🤣... no.
What other people think of me. That's highly dependant e.g.
If you are someone I have a meaningful relationship with, where we know each other intimately - then yes what you think of me is important to me.
If we don't know each other, then no. That's not say I don't care what people think, but what's their opinion of me based upon? I suppose there's some surface level observations, a behaviour or appearance - that may warrant consideration, but even then if there's no effort to understand me, my intentions or motivations then I am probably going to laugh at any critique positive or negative. |

I met a well known social media influencer a couple of times when out on the mountains.
I had seen some of his work before and thought he seemed like a decent individual and more about passing on actual skills and knowledge than he was about getting likes and sponsors.
On the two occasions I met him I was convinced that his online persona was a cover for the fact he was unable to hold a conversation and could only grunt.
I thought he was rude the first time but the second time I decided he just couldn't cope with people. |

I mean, I'm pretty sure it's impossible to not be influenced by some things, barring extreme narcissism and sociopathy obviously. Any amount of empathy will at least slightly edit how we see the world when something new happens.
Mostly, I don't pay any attention to influencers or whatever. But that doesn't mean that what they go on about isn't filtered back down to me again through friends, through what's on sale, through the general goings on in the world.
I do like when someone can change my opinion though. Actually sell me on a viewpoint I hadn't considered before 💜 |

I think I would be in denial if I thought that I was not subject to influences at all but I’m not influenced by social media as I don’t use any (aside from fab).
The sources of influence are chosen by me, based on how much I value that source.
I like to think I am self confident enough to pick and choose what influences will be beneficial too me. |

I don't think I'm influenced by celebs or promoters. I don't buy glossy mags or watch reality TV, bar things like masterchef.
I don't have Tik Tock or Snapchat, I wouldn't even know how to use these apps.
I'm very much I'll follow my own style & make my own mind up about things. |

A friend and I watch certain influencers on Tik tok as we have very similar tastes in clothing… we have a good giggle as we sometimes buy each other two of the same items dependant on what we are doing |

I find that I'm more influenced and coaxed by the characters and the whatnots from the Fab Forå. I pay heed to the good stuff (which is in rarity) and disregard the bad stuff (which is omnipresent). |

I'm influenced to stay sober by most of my family's deaths. I do it for them. |

The only way to not be influenced is to not actually consume information media of any kind. You may feel uninfluenced, but we all know advertising works on other people so.. |
