For me, all partners have had to appreciate my hyperfocus and not to take it personally.
The linear and high intensity way I work through life-admin tasks. There's no do it as you go along with me, I can't do it. I have to get myself in the headspace and then blitz it till it's done.
ADHD manifests in individuals differently, it's awesome that you want to support and understand your partner. If she's anything like me, she will find it difficult that you need to adjust to her needs, maybe feel bad about it. I got a lot of punishment for not behaving the way people wanted me to. So much so I was terrified of screwing up, and a lot of self-blame came along with that. |
