I noted last night the very sad passing of acting and writing icon Jean Marsh …. no doubt the ‘younger generation’ in here will be saying - WHO????
I still remember VERY fondly, and still love watching the repeats of the iconic 70s period drama ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ which she both wrote and starred in. She also wrote ‘House of Elliott’ …. and not forgetting the cheeky role she had in the classic war film ‘The Eagle has Landed’
Very sad 😢

I shall mourn. She was another of the truly great talents. Some of her great performances have already been mentioned and I shall be digging them out. One that always sticks in my mind was on Dr Who during the Sylvester McCoy era when she played Morgain le Faye.
Cheesy it may have been with the 1980s production values and special effects, but watching her play opposite the late and greatly missed Nicholas Courtney was amazing. Their portrayal of Warrior Queen and old soldier on opposite sides, but united in remembrance of the fallen was absolutely wonderful.
Rest in well earned peace Jean Marsh OBE. |
