There is no answer.
There is no set stage to be at in your life's journey.
You can decided daily if you are gay, straight, bi, pansexual etc etc etc.
This problem only arose when strict societal / cultural rules said that men must do this and women must do that .....

I knew a few gay men and women who discovered they were gay after being in heterosexual relationships all of their lives. Not many, or any I can think of who went from gay to straight.
I was talking about being bi with another TV a few months ago, they wanted to try but were concerned that it would turn them bisexual. That conversation made me think there’s too much pressure especially on men to be a ‘gold star hetro’ I think it’s so sad to live your life and not experiment due to social norms.
I know I’m bisexual and very comfortable with it and the label, recently I had some online forms to complete at work and it did ask about sexuality so I put down bisexual which was a first for me. I’m not out or intend to come out, but close friends do know and any relationships have to know if they get serious.

You're probably much more likely to encounter straight people who venture flexibly outside of their initial scope, because of the volume of people and, I think, because of conditioned repression from society.
As far as I understand, there's no inherent difference between gay and straight people, with each person having potential to want to explorez as they gain retaliation of their tastes and interests. |

If someone has sex with someone of the same sex for the first time after years of only having sex with people of the opposite sex do you think that they are heterosexual until the point they first have sex with someone of the same sex and then after that they’re bisexual? Do you really think that someone’s sexuality is determined purely by who they’ve had sex with?
Being bisexual means that you’re sexually attracted to both sexes, someone can spend their whole life only having sex with the opposite sex but still be bisexual if they’re also attracted to the same sex. Someone could meet the love of their life at a young age and they could be together for the rest of their lives and only ever have sex with each other but still be bisexual. Even though they’re with that one person all their lives they will still be attracted to other people because it’s impossible not to be attracted to other people but they will never act on it because they remain faithful to that one person. So if they’re attracted to men and women but only ever have sex with one other person who’s the opposite sex are they heterosexual or bisexual?
There are many, many gay people who have heterosexual relationships before they come out as gay because they are trying to hide their sexuality…it’s sad that it happens but it does. So are those people heterosexual while they’re in the heterosexual relationships and then bisexual once they start having relationships with the same sex? Even though they are only attracted to the same sex and their heterosexual relationships were just a cover up.
You really need to stop seeing people’s sexuality as something determined purely by who they have sex with because it’s determined by who they are sexually attracted to and desire to have sex with, regardless of who they actually do have sex with.
A bisexual person is attracted to both sexes, they may have sex with both sexes, they may only have sex with the same sex or opposite sex, but if someone’s sexually attracted to both sexes they’re bisexual.
If someone is only attracted to the same sex then they’re homosexual regardless of whether they’ve had sex with someone of the same sex.
What you’re witnessing OP is people who have desires to have sex with someone of the same sex will hide it during their younger life because they’re scared to be different and want to follow the norm but as we get older we tend to be less scared and will be who we really want to be. People don’t decide to start being attracted to the same sex they just stop hiding their true feelings. They don’t change from being heterosexual to bisexual, they’ve always been bisexual, they just change from being scared and suppressing their feelings to being open and accepting their feelings. When i was younger i used to pretend that i like the taste of lager because all my mates drank lager and i didn’t want to be the only one who didn’t, now i don’t pretend to like lager and never drink it. That doesn’t mean i have changed from someone to likes lager to someone who doesn’t like lager, I’ve always been someone who doesn’t like lager but i haven’t always felt comfortable with other people knowing it. |

How can anyone know, really know, what they like until they’ve seen or met enough different types of people? Thst goes for sexual interests even within a single demographic.
