"Slow burners.
Perhaps you notice more, the more times you've seen them.
2 for me-
Rogue one
Get out
Agree with Rogue 1 "
I think 'drive' is a bit like this for me too.. |

Definitely films by David Lynch, Darren Aronofsky, Quentin Tarantino, and others they will be layers of stuff going on that you won’t catch on the first watch unless you have read up.
I also like to rewatch or walkabout every few years & notice how it impacts me differently |

I was just talking with a friend about walkabout recently, he likes it a lot also. |

I travelled across Australia so has a special meaning to me, but it is an amazing film very challenging in parts tackling a lot of different issues |

I watched "True Romance" this afternoon while tidying the shed. Not exaclty a slow burner, I loved it the first time I ever watched it. But it is genuinely one I can watch over and over and not get tired of.
...as for a slow burner, my votes goes to 'The Banshees of Inisherin'; first time I saw it, I just took it in rather than 'enjoy' it, but after a couple of re-watches, it's just an absolute masterpiece of madness! |

I rewatch a film because i like it enough to watch it again.
Whilst there has been times where ive missed stuff and caught them on the second watch.
if i didnt like the film its binned never to be watched again. |

I think the best films need to be watched more than once. I like things you can dig into and find new things in with each watching. Depth is a good thing and it's not bad not to pick up on everything first time.
LA Confidential is such a film for me. |

Whether a second (or more) viewings makes it "better" is of course subjective to each individual viewer - but - there are certain films that you may think are one "thing" or genre or even narrative even that in effect are something often the polar opposite. Thus it can almost be like seeing another brand new film upon a second viewing such is the impact of possessing hindsight that what appeared almost banal, even filler like, scenes can take on a whole different and far more crucial (oftem at times sinister) hue.
A few examples that represent this trait include...
The Usual Suspects (1995)
Get Out (2017)
The Wicker Man (1973)
The Stepford Wives (1975)
Soylent Green (1973)
Oldboy (2003)
Martyrs (2008)
Angel Heart (1987)
Parasite (2019) |

David Lynch or movies with a twist are usually the best for that.
Because you’re initially surprised by the twist.
But then you can go back, watch it again & see the foundations of said twist being laid out.
John Carpenter’s The Thing
Sixth Sense etc
But my all time favourite?
Time travel movies…I could talk about them forever |

"Not a movie ..but Fawlty Towers ...it never gets old ..."don't mention the war" "
Agreed.
They didn't make that many episodes & it's so well written too. |

Movies ARE to be enjoyed many times over.
Like any form of art, it's the presentation, vibe, story and a myriad of many things that entice you.
A beautiful painting or pretty woman and can be looked at more than once. The same way your favourite song can be listened to forever. |

"No there’s not.
Pointless watching a film more than once as you know what’s going to happen…..don’t see the point🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️"
Simple straight forward stories , I agree with. I don't watch films twice as a rule BUT once in a while when good films come along and they are all consuming I will watch them again and without effort there is more to be seen and heard the second time around.
A bit like when you read a book more than once you see things far more clearly |

Yes! I watched it for the second time recently. The first time thought provoking, the second time genius.... so layered. |

"Conclave , Heretic, Twelve Monkeys, Angel Heart, Sin city, Once upon a time in America, Dracula ( the Oldman version) "
Sin city is very well done.
I have to leave a long time between viewings though cos it's so dark... |

A good job you don't have that attitude about sex "
Some films are better when you get the reference, or have visited the locations and can apply your own memories to it.
Plenty of films have jokes and cultural references that don't reveal themselves until years later. |

"I'm Thinking of Ending Things
In this a cry for help or did you actually watch that film twice? I felt like ending it after the first watch! "
Lol. There's so much going on it's hard to pick up on it the first time you watch |
