I wonder what people think about arranging for an STI test pre-meet as an extra layer of assurance. I know nothing is bulletproof, and timings are involved, but is this something people do or ignore? |

Depends - Previously if entering into an exclusive FWB situation - Yes.
The rest of the time I’ve just bagged it up, crossed my fingers & got tested afterwards 🤭
But (like you said)nothings bulletproof. Theirs still things you can get, even if you are protected. |

I would have no problem with getting a test done if someone asked.
I get tested after every meet even though condoms are used but not for everything sexual. Can't be too careful/trusting these days as I bet not many will give a shit about your sexual health...most will say they play safe but you can take that with a pinch of salt x |

I agree. We can catch things even with condoms, but I am surprised how many would ignore if your bring the test issue up....
Also, only 3 months after a meet, you would have a clear picture of any infections, so even testing isn't perfect unless the other person has had no sex for 3 months... and isn't lying about it haha |

I honestly can't believe you would arrange STI tests as part of a meet build up. Nothing could be less sexy than asking someone to take a test in advance. Condom, absolutely, but asking someone to take a test specifically for me is a step to far and would quite frankly put me off if it was required of me. Regular testing = great, specific meet test = weird.

Never understood the point of this, they could show you a test performed last week but how do you know they haven't played in the meantime
Ultimately all boils down to trust - you have to trust they are clean, tested regularly, and haven't done anything silly in the meantime |

It's worth noting that some STIs won't show up in testing right away, so if they were really bothered, they would have to abstain for a couple weeks before testing and after too if they really want a guarantee. |

It's great and I wish more people would have open and honest discussions about sexual health. About things like HPV.
But at the same time... I test for me and take care of my sexual health. Decide whether or not to do certain things. |

It doesn't sound like the best social but if I like her enough I'd do it. |

Whilst the type of test, such as for HIV determines the lag, between infection and when it will become test positive, you're potentially going to be lulled into a false sense of security, if any test results are clear.
Unless someone is isolated for many weeks and you ran multiple tests - as it's feasible to get a false positive result, you'll not be able to get the security you'd expect OP.
Remember, not all STIs are tested for. Someone who says they've caught nothing, cannot be 100% certain. |
