"At night? I keep waking up with really intense headaches presumably because I breathe through my mouth in the night.
Thinking of taping my mouth but also don’t want to d*e"
Erm, don't do that. What kind of headaches? Do you try and go back to sleep, or get up and want to bounce your head off a wall? |

Both? In the mornings I want to bounce my head off a wall. But in the night I drink some water and try and sleep. I don’t really get headaches so I can’t compare it to any other headaches I get |

"My son does. He is 17. Apparently it helps with jaw definition 🤣🤣🤣
I have been known to have apnea episodes and with my teeth grinding and at my age, I definitely don’t want to die so I won’t! "
I first saw it on a TikTok trend and apparently lots of people do it.
But yeah I have had teeth grinding before. Not anymore though fortunately |

Does it stop fairly suddenly, and always hit in the same place (behind the eye) |

We have a squeaky duck ball gag you could try?
Means you can still breathe but you'll know if you're grinding your teeth because it'll sound like there's a small dog savaging a squeaky dog toy in the room when you do. 🤷♂️ |

Well if you don't wake up you won't have a headache. Objective achieved. |

More likely headaches due to dehydration, nocturnal bruxism or cervicogenic origin. You don’t get headaches from breathing through your mouth. |

Oh good shout. I have a harmonica one, the sudden silence would alert anyone to an apnoea episode |

It sounds like you have some variety of sleep apnoea. My late wife used to sleep with a breathing mask on to help with that. You might consider asking for a referral to a sleep clinic, so they can determine if there's an issue, and suggest a solution.
Don't start taping your mouth up or applying other hearsay remedies; get a professional assessment.

I keep my mouth shut as i allegedly snore (complete fabrication obviously) but I don’t use tape or anything just change my sleep position, I would see a doctor pal as it might be sleep apnea or something, I would worry it might be lack of oxygen to the brain. |

I have heard a lot of good things about mouth taping. I am going to give it a try myself to see if it calms my snoring. |

I've always breathed through my mouth, throughout life. I have perennial sinus issues and nasal polyps. The downside is that my 'inspiration' isn't filtered/warmed/moistened as it would be when breathing through my nose, which can cause occasional chest clearing. |

Who in his right mind would do that? It’s completely pointless.
I’ll give you some shocking news: Tik Tok trends ARE NOT good medical advice. |

Anybody that sees a Tik Tok trend that seals off an orifice that provides life sustaining oxygen and thinks is a good idea is a fucking moron.
Stop being such a bloke and go and see a doctor FFS
And stay off Tik Tok - it’s full of dickheads and narcissists who’ll say anything for engagement. |

I only came here to suggest a ball gag instead of tape. |

Maybe try buying a humidifier for your room instead to help with dehydration? I have one that I use when I have a cold and can't breathe through my nose. It really eases breathing, helps sleep and I wake up not feeling headachey and groggy. They're like £40 or so I got mine in argos. You just have to make sure you clean it regularly and use boiled/filtered water. |

Headaches can be an indicator of many conditions, but could be perfectly innocent and simply suggest you need to make some environmental changes.
Easy things to try - make sure you're fully hydrated overnight, is your room too hot? too cold? do you sleep with a window open to get fresh air? is there too much air in your room and causing a draft? Try changing your sleeping position - the headache could be referred pain from your neck - or maybe a new pillow is needed, with more or less support.
Hopefully one of those factors will fix the problem easily, but if not, or if the problem has been persistent over an extended period, I'd recommend a chat with a GP. |

What makes you think it's to do with breathing through your mouth? It's still the same air you're breathing. |

"I have no idea if tape over the mouth at night will help the OP’s headaches but there are a few people who could do this during the day and it would certainly stop me getting a headache "

Those were going to be my words exactly!!! |
