Socials are like being in a pub with people.
Clubs are the same, especially in the bar areas which you can stick to, however, some people may be a little less dressed.
Clubs tend to have a bar when you walk in, so it’s no different to walking in to a pub. Play rooms are usually upstairs or away from the bar.

We noticed some clubs expect you to strip off even for the bar |

Definitely recommend a Social First,
You're Dressed (reasonably dependant on where the Social is), You're with like-minded People of which some will be just as nervous as Yourselves, No expectations or pressure for Play (in fact a good amount are in Public places so You can't really Play) and You can leave whenever You want..

In accordance with the above — a social. It's a perfectly normal setting, in a bar, imbibing and chatting to fellow fabbers with no agenda or expectations of anything other than building your nexus of friends and making new acquaintances. |

Socials, there basically just a bunch of people in a public/club, there's no pressure, it's a no play thing, it's just a way to meet new people.
If you decide on a club, tell them you are new and they'll show you around etc, just treat it like any normal night out, don't feel pressured to do anything just chill at the bar if you want.

"We have never been to a club or Fab social, which would you recommend for first timers who are nervous about both? "
Why not try both? Clubs are generally a social to start the night anyway (and for the whole night if you wish). Don't think you're walking into an all night orgy in a club because that's not the case, people chat socially and go to a playroom if they wish. Many people go to clubs and stay at the bar and dance floor. |
