How do you decide on a new style? Do you just go with what you like? Do you think about if it will suit you/ your face/ your head? Do you ask the opinions of others/ hairdresser? Do you use IG or Pinterest or TikTok etc

I broke up with my ex so impulsively chopped my hair off into the short bob it's been ever since. Is that not how all hair decisions are made?

Don’t! After a break up I’ve shaved my beard off before. Dyed my hair blonde, pink and purple before. I’ve grown my hair out before. I’m a lot.

I'm pretty by the book in terms of my hairstyle and what I go for. I know what suits me. I have been tempted to leave it a bit longer on the top, but it would need thinning out as it can just get out of control 🙈

I've not had a new style in ages. Right now? My hair exists. There's no hairstyle to it.

What I really like? I'm not sure will suit me. I've had my hair cut very short for management before. Relaxed it once many years ago and vowed never again. I loved getting my hair braided before Barbados when I was younger - I always knew it was holiday very soon when my scalp was tender.

I've been looking at TikTok and Pinterest because where I live is very white and I've been turned away from countless salons because they can't do my hair. No idea who to ask for advice.

Travelled to Manchester to an Auntie's salon and whilst it's an experience, it's not for me. I'm really happy that I can see more women with hair like mine that aren't being pushed towards relaxing or wigs or full weaves - I've shortlisted a few salons in London and will be booking one this week hopefully.

The West

It's extremely difficult for me to get a haircut. 14 salons in galway turned me away.

I met one Brazilian stylist one time and he advised me on my hair and cut it really wel so I have a photo of that cut that I bring with me now.

Most women in most salons don't take me seriously because I'm a guy and they just offer a 'gent's cut' or they are offended that I have the cheek to ask for a senior stylist who knows how to cut curly hair.

I'll be driving my three hours for my next haircut.

My last big hair decision was age based…..I found I was going lighter and lighter the older I got so eventually my hairdresser just suggested going all over blonde and I love it xx
