Has anyone used a locksmith? How strict are they, requiring proof that it's your property? I've lost the keys to a relative's place and they're unavailable.

Gemini tells me that they will require photo id and proof that you own or rent the property which must match. Eg driving licence and utility bill.

We've used a locksmith to change the locks on a couple of properties that we rented. I don't remember them asking for any ID etc. stuff before getting to work, although I suppose the fact we had the keys for the existing locks would point to us not attempting to burglar the house(s). A photo ID requirement is pretty common with almost everything these days, certainly have needed to produce such at adult spas before.

couple, us we him her.

Ok.

So if I turned up at an address that requires me to gain entry if the person requiring entry had ID with an address different from the address I was at I wouldn't be gaining access for them.

You'd need permission from the house owner/occupier and then I personally would only do if it if they are present.

There's codes of conduct to adhere to.

Wouldn't it be better to phone a locksmith and tell them the situation...?...or find a burglar..
