"Going to Turkey in a few weeks and after a bit of advice over what sim card to use as my current provider is as extortionate rates.
Any advice to keep cost down would be appreciated."

Off to Istanbul ourselves tomorrow. We’re not bothering & just relying on wifi. Looking forward to being off grid if I’m honest. Only thing I would ‘need’ data for is navigation, but you can get around that by downloading maps before you go.
If I was in the market for a sim, I’d probably get an Airalo esim. |

When you arrive in Turkey, just buy a tourist Sim in the airport or in any town you’re gonna have to pay around £20 for one month you they won’t do less than that. They will set it up for you in the shop or airport. Just keep your other Sim safe if your phone can only hold one. |

You can’t rarely rely on Wi-Fi in Turkey , when you are walking around and even on the beach bars and hotels the signal can be crap. Even in the airports when you transfer there is that crazy queue of people trying to register for the free Wi-Fi |

This is true (or at least true where I’ve previously been in Turkey). I’m expecting Istanbul to be a bit better though.
That said, happy to stay off the net & just use the hotel wifi at the beginning & end of the day.
We are there to explore the city first & foremost, not gawp at our phones… |

You can also download Google Maps onto your phone doesn’t really work too well on navigation though when you are off-line. The only thing I rarely use my phone for when travelling and out and about is maps/navigation and occasionally Uber or Bolt. |

Try Organic Maps instead. I think it’s excellent. |
