When not seeing the results you want
A bit of a whinge. But also looking for some pointers if anyone has any?
So I've been trying to eat better the past couple of weeks. I've switched from full sugar drinks to zero sugar. I've completely reduced my carbs and I've swapped chocolate for fucking rice cakes, which Ino longer. Actually, I'm so fed up with rice cakes I don't even eat them now.
Yet the scales haven't fucking budged 🤯
I wasn't expecting it too fall of me but you know, just a 1lb here and there to make it feel like I'm actually getting somewhere.
My motivation now is non existent so my question is how do you stay focused even when it seems you're no better off?
Please help |

Measure your progress in something other than the scales
Climbing the stairs without being out of breath, skin being clearer, having more energy… damn it could be as simple as healthier bathroom habits. It doesn’t have to be numbers on a scale or inches on the waistline. Change where your focus lies |

The scales can be misleading as weight can fluctuate due to various factors hydration, time of day ect so don’t let that put you off.
Do you feel better or see visible changes?
Is your protein intake adequate as that helps when in a Defecit
Motivation wise I visualise the end result whrn things aren’t exactly moving how want them too never loose sight of the end goal |

Hope don’t mind me saying but looking at photos you don’t look overweight at all, not saying this to be a pathetic simp but pointing out that a single lb of fat loss would be quite a large amount on you so don’t expect it to go quick it’s always the last bits the most stubborn to get off |

Don't get hung up about the scales. Weight, measure and photo yourself every week, you should ser the difference.
Food, maybe you are not eating enough? Weigh your food and add to MFP.
Protein and veg are your friends, not processed foods.
I feel for you as I've been doing the same.
Inches are going but not so much my weight. But I do lift weights 3 or 4 times a week, so my muscle is increasing and my fat is decreasing.

It's natural for motivation to drop or fluctuate; in my experience the key to long term change is actually discipline- sticking to your plans (which are good ones) regardless of whether you're motivated every day. Probably not the response you wanted but my honest experience. |

Try a gut medicine. Yakult or similar, it gets everything moving. You'll feel a shit load better literally |

Healthy living is a lifestyle …. And it’s not a quick fix unless you take the short cuts.
Don’t beat yourself up about the scales not showing what you expect.
Have you tried on a dress or top or jeans etc taht might have been tighter before you started? Is it now a little looser? That’s a positive right?
Do you feel better mentally since changing things up?
It’s extreme to count calories … but also difficult as you can often miss some / ignore them if you don’t think they’re important …
It’s a marathon not a sprint…. Just focus on the fact you’ve made a change for the good … little targets are better than meaty ones …. Rather than run 5km walk 1km ..could you do that before? If not, then surely that in itself is a breakthrough ?
Be positive for yourself, that’s all that’s matters…
Best of luck. |

It’s not just what you are putting in your body but what you are doing with your body as well.
If you starve yourself you are only making your body learn to be more efficient, learning to need less and resulting in ‘yo-yo’ dieting.
Get active. Put an increased demand on your body for energy. However, muscle mass will be broken down before body fat (we are predators so are genetically predisposed to stir body fat) so do activity that will maintain muscle bulk/tone.
Remember that muscle is higher in liquid content so weighs more than low density fats.
It is not an easy thing to do so I would highly recommend you talk to a professional (not a personal trainer as most have the most basic of qualifications).
Weight loss is not a seasonal thing you can do, it needs to be a whole lifestyle change and requires you to adopt new habits and behaviours.
Good luck 🤜💪
