When reading posts on here or sites of the same ilk do you find almost being made a claim to off putting
As an example a general post and someone says “do you remember when” or “you owe me from when we last met”
Is there a need to reference someone when it’s not asked for and would it potentially stop you from messaging them yourself?

Maybe. Is my very informative answer. If it’s overly graphic, or one of the parties is off-putting (to me) then yes. If it’s a reference to something fun at a social then I don’t care at all.
That said, I’ve had people post making it sound like they’ve met me or are deep in my DMs when it’s not true. So unless the other person posts something back, I take it all with a pinch of salt. |

That’s a great answer, thank you, and yes context is the key to it, but, for me, I sometimes find it unnecessary as if it’s almost putting a “marker” down so to speak |

Seen it quite a lot on forums and chat groups. Can be very cringy. I know when I've been have a laugh with someone I may or may not have met on the Irish forums and chat groups I try to keep it jokey and short to stop that cringy vibe, or take it to a private chat. I've seen it end a thread many a time when people are essentially trying to have a private conversation in public 🤮 |

Someone acting like they know you more personally or intimately than you consider them to be, or are comfortable with being expressed publicly?
I am getting a lamppost pissing theme coming through here. Am I on the right track?
I suppose it can also just be friendliness. Or people whom really don't care about territorial pissings 🤣

I guess what I am trying to say is the lamppost pissing that has made it clearer
But in essence especially if from or to or by one of the supposed more popular forumites that it implies they have met or done or had something with them as a way to show one up man ship or one up woman ship (if there is such a saying) or to even close a thread out or to stop others wanting to comment
Also that person may not want to be referenced by someone else |

A little like the serial flirters who pop up in serious threads to let the world know that they know who they are?
Or the people who slag others off in private but tag them in public to give the impression they are buddies in the hope of staying relevant or being in with the in crowd?
I deliberately avoid anyone who is lamppost pissing especially when it's as fake as fuck. |

It makes me cringe a little bit when it's clearly for the benefit of others, and not for me (or the person they are directing their comment to).
Flirting is fun when it's light-hearted. I don't want anyone "laying claim" to me (unless it's in the 'bedroom' in private). |
