Have you guys heard of it? What's your take? A sporting event where doping is allowed, with a massive budget behind it, where athletes are paid $100k just to compete and with bonuses that range between half a million to a million for any world record break - which kinda means athletes are not only allowed to take steroids they are kinda encouraged so they can win those prices.

As a former semi professional athlete and a huge sporting fan I have mixed feelings about it. I know most professional athletes will take performance enhancement drugs throughout their careers (it is an open secret by this point) and this will allow them to be more transparent about it...also I do feel we are rapidly approaching the sealing of what is achievable from a natural physical performance, and if we want to see world records broken, steroids will most likely be the main factor. My fear is that with this, sports will be taken to an unhealthy extreme (similar to bodybuilding) where these athletes will take more and more of these drugs just to be able to compete with eachother, to the (self sabotaging) detriment of their health and lifes. Nonetheless this has the potential to be the new big thing in sports...the general audience will definitely be entertained with what these enhanced athletes can do

F1 for athletes.

They'll have to have a medical team championship as well for the best dopers.

Not for me, Clive.

It’s an interesting concept, but also a dangerous one. On one hand, allowing PEDs openly removes the hypocrisy in pro sports, where drug use is already widespread but hidden. It could push performance to new extremes and definitely draw huge audiences.

But the downside is serious. It would likely create an arms race of drug use, where athletes feel pressured to take increasingly dangerous substances just to keep up. Like in bodybuilding, the long-term health costs could be severe. It might also normalize or glamorize PEDs in general, encouraging more recreational use by non-athletes chasing unrealistic goals.

I’ve never agreed with PEDs because they create an uneven playing field. Athletes who choose to stay clean are often at a clear disadvantage, even if they’re just as talented or hardworking. In this case it would we the athlete with the best research and development team behind them with a clear advantage.

I’d find it entertaining. But realistically, it would just be a huge advert for taking steroids and would lead more people down the path of using them.

So overall it’s a no. Don’t do it.

I’ll just stick to watching people who pretend they don’t take them (gladiators, wwe, ukbff, nabba)

Let's have a pissed Olympics where they do the 110m hurdles after 8 cans of white lightening and without dropping their kebab.

If they didn’t get close to WR’s before they took performance enhancing drugs then everyone will just say it’s the drugs that helped.

So regardless of how many hours they’ve put in to be the best they physically can, they won’t get recognition for it. They’ll have won it due to drugs.

I hope it’s not a concept that takes off but in this world we live in now, I suspect it no doubt will!

Considering the relative health risks and longterm damage performance enhancing drugs can have when people are using them 'a bit'.

The fact people are going to be encouraged to mess themselves up.

Not my thing.

Steroids help keep athletes in top condition and recover from injuries. We wanna see better quality fight and records repeatedly broken etc

We joked about this in the pub for decades

The 3 second 100m

5ft high hurdles

10ft 6 high jump

Then they drug test the winner and if they’re clean they’re disqualified

I generally believe that adults should be free to do what they want with their life and body, if they are not detrimental to others. I don't know the rules for that competition and would hope that people would get fuller health management services. It's probably better for there to be transparency than concealment

Nothing will change except the athlete not having to worry about timing their drug use to avoid testing, can now use longer esters instead of test prop ect
