Long fingernails

I (Luke) growing out three of my fingernails for guitar-playing purposes.

I hate it!!! They are not even particularly long yet but they snag on things, get bent (which is really unpleasant if it's in the wrong direction) and they get muck stuck under them.

So for those of you who have long fingernails, how do you cope? Do you have any tips on how to make this situation less bad for me?

"Use a plectrum "

That's not a substitute. I can't do what I am aiming for with a plectrum.

As a man, I hate when my fingernails get beyond cut short.

However, on women I find long well kept ‘pretty’ fingernails such a turn on… like, huge!

So I’m bookmarking for different purposes 😂😂

A friend of ours has the same problem so he visits a nail bar for false tips to play. Acrylic, not gel - they're too soft.

In my case I had a bad case of eczema a few years ago and now my nails break as soon as they extend over the nail bed. I've always had long nails, even as a kid and never cut my nails, always file them.

So, I've started using coats of clear nail varnish. First coat a strengthener or hardener, then base cost and a top coat which can be matt or gloss. Actually I prefer the latter.

Don't buy cheap from a discount store buy a decent make such as Sally Hansen or Nail-Aid although you can sometimes see them discounted.

This is useful. I want to grow my nails out, but they're always snagging, and I have an annoying habit of picking at them (yes, yes, I should stop).

Completely indifferent to a woman’s fingernails unless she plans on slipping me a digit then a “on the spot risk assessment takes place 😉)

I hate my finger nails getting long 🤢

Is it for Spanish guitar? Use Mavala to strengthen them and grow them slowly, you probably don’t want them flattened but they are gonna be much stronger if you square them off a little bit at first at least.

My nails were never strong enough for playing guitar - they would break really easily. And I hated that I would need to keep my left hand nails short even if I could grow those I needed to on my right hand, so I eventually gave up playing. Which I am actually quite sad about now.

File them regularly. Don't pick them. If they catch or break, file them down again. They will eventually get stronger. A nail hardner helps.

File them in one direction, don't share nail files with anyone else and change them regularly.

My nails are always long, if I do break one my finger feels naked.

I'll do with this and add good food and good sleep I soak mine in water to get them Soft then let them dry and harden. The sun also makes mine grow. I only grow my thumb for spring in to summer so I can pinch out flower tips and side shots. Keep off alcohol.
