Obviously I’m enjoy and am interested in meets etc but also love the flirting and conversation that used to go on in Kik groups. Have had a search and there don’t appear to be any local active groups anymore, have people moved on to a different platform or is it not something that happens anymore?

Telegram seems to be where it's at these days.

It is basically everything Kik isn't in terms of functionality, usability, bots and ads

Yep. Kik is almost unusable nowadays.

Kik is now crap. Adverts all over it.

Telegram is much better IMO

I've never used t*legram and deleted k*k a few years ago because I wasn't using it.

One thing I've never understood though is joining random groups on either platform with no previous engagement.

I've never joined any chat group that didn't originate here, either through conversation with the admin or another member recommending it.

I've run a few groups that were by invitation only.

I've seen quite a few comments over the years on the forums about issues that people were having with bots and fake accounts and dodgy groups and often wondered if there was a direct correlation to joining anonymous groups because in all the years I used it I didn't experience any of that at all.

Bots, service collapsing, messages getting stuck, kik just went totally downhill

Only other platform I use is Discord.

Kik is arguably one of the most insecure apps, it's just a shame it didn't shutdown in 2019 as originally planned.

I guess that’s a personal preference, I tended to use it for both. ‘Random’ groups just for light hearted chat that wouldn’t go anywhere and invite only groups to keep in touch and arange stuff woth ppl I knew. Think both were similar for bots etc was all down to how well admin kept a handle on things
