I’m currently sporting a beautiful bite on my bum. Those little biting creatures just loooooove me!

I keep seeing adverts for bracelets/anklets that claim to repel insects from biting you. Does anyone have any experience of these? Any good? All tips welcome!

You’re not in the best place if you’re a midge magnet.

Maybe try a hazmat suit.

Avons 'skin so soft ' range has rave reviews for repelling mozzies, tho it's not marketed as such.

The only successful device I've seen was an office fan on full. Because of differences in body chemistry, any spray or cream will be great for one person, rubbish for another.

Some success has been observed using antihistamines, and some swear by garlic.

If you need anyone to apply ointment to your bites...

The east coast isn’t bad for midgies, that’s more of a west coast thing 🤷‍♀️

Another vote for DEET, and covering arms and legs around sun down and sun up helps too.

No they’re odourless so your breath doesn’t smell and they’re the same style supplement as cod liver oil so they have that casing that tastes like nothing!

I bought some of the bracelets on the plane last year and had way fewer bites……could have been coincidence but I wore them the whole holiday just in case xx

Being serious for a moment, are you sure it's a midge bite? It's unlikely to be a tick, but it might have been a horsefly, or a spider.

Blue one in spray form is the one you want, not the green one or cremes.

It’s a midge. I have experience. Defo not a horsefly or I would have known about it at the time, those fuckers hurt!

I've tried the bracelets before when I've been travelling and they didn't work.

There's an insect repellent called Smidge that a few people I know swear by.

If you're outside in the evenings there's something called Thermacell that you can use near by to you which is supposed to be excellent (I've only seen the cariety that you attach to a small gas canister.

Tonypandy.

Avon skin so soft (blue bottle) works well.

Otherwise something containing citronella or bergamot oil Aldo seems to work.

Of course DEET works, but it stinks and can really sting.
