This is a recurring problem for me OP since breaking my back some years ago, hope you get it all under control soon and can enjoy Nudefest.
(I needed a whole heap more physio to help deal with mine, and still use those same excercises/techniques when the pain kicks in) |

Mine was the result of a wonderfully soft and comfortable mattress that screwed up my back and hips. After three years of suffering I changed beds to a firmer mattress and suddenly the symptoms were gone. |

I feel your pain, i've had it on and off for the past 18 months and just when i think its cleared up it's back with a vengeance. I'm just getting back to 'normal' after flair up over a month ago.

First time I had it, it took weeks to clear up, was absolute agony too. Had no idea how to shake it off, but once learned some stretches and to keep as active as possible, each time I've had it (around 4 times in the last 2 years) it's excruciating for a couple of days before easing fairly rapidly compared to the first time.
I just recovered from a recent bout of it. Took 5 days from start to finish. Only advice I could give is to try to stretch and keep as active as your body allows. |

I’m not quite sure why you are using a heat pad and on whose advice ?
Sciatica is commonly caused by inflammation , there is an underlying problem but when you have an episode information typically causes something to press on a nerve which causes a sciatic pain
Way to deal with information is to use anti-inflammatory approaches such as ice not heat

I had a deep tissue massage from a professional sports therapist, which basically cured mine.
Sitting for long periods in an uncomfortable position is affecting my leg again. All my own fault.
There are exercises you can do too. I watch a few guys on Facebook who show which exercises help with what musculoskeletal problems. |

Only really toothache is close to the pain.
Mine is a result of a herniated disc bulging onto the sciatic nerve.
It's important to find exercises/ stretches that helps relieve the pressure, definitely look into sleeping positions with pillows assistance to help relieve pressure and sitting.
The cobra stretch is an absolute godsend.
I was doing loads of daily back mobility exercise that when I saw the specialist turn's out they were all aggravating the problem.
Also walking and keeping mobile is important sitting doing nothing for too long isn't helpful.
However as my physio said " if it hurts STOP"

"I swim 3 times a week Tai Chi once a week, had 3 weeks at pain rehab. Plus doing the stretches they advised. Normally ok . Just over did it . Looks like I should be fine for Nudefest "
Tai chi is good, but something even better is called Qigong, swimming is great but only if you use goggles and put your head under if you want a lady swimming then it could make it a lot worse
Have you had an MRI to determine the cause of your sciatic pain?
There will be something going on underneath like disc or neurological problem sciatic pain is just a reaction to it. |

Mine was the same about 15 years ago this border L2/L3 that was quite big. I’ve had MRIs over the years. It’s never gonna go away unless it’s sliced off. I’ve learnt to manage it and keep it well away from the sciatic nerve. I’ve run a full and several half marathons with it like that and I’ve not taken painkillers for about 10 years did an MRI recently it’s exactly the same. It hasn’t shifted yet. It’s like it isn’t there at all because it’s a few millimetres clear of the sciatic nerve. |

I had severe sciatica 7 years ago was housebound for 6 weeks,worst thing was I could not sleep at night doctor gave me pain killers morphine etc didn't touch it,I could not lay down in bed then he prescribed me amitriptyline 60mg it relaxed the nervous system and I could get a proper nights sleep,my right leg and the back of my foot are still numb after all these years it wont go back to normal again damaged nerve,that was my experience I pulled my back stretching up to open the window |

Generally, if it lasts for more than six weeks, it causes permanent nerve damage. I have the same on the outside of my left leg and foot when I scratch it it feels like I’m scratching somebody else.
Amiltrytyline great for getting through the night when you wake up with a hangover! The doctors don’t know what they are doing prescribing strong pain killers and amitriptyline what they should be doing is teaching you how to reduce the inflammation i’m giving you things like naproxen. NHS GPs are less use at this stuff than Google

Unfortunately a regular occurrence in my situation.. first episode in 2018 an never felt the same since. Although the crash on my 30th birthday didn't help either sadly. I know how you feel buddy.. hang in there. |

I completely agree naxopran didn't help me at all,like I said amitriptyline was the saviour for me,I was offered an operation but with backs always a risk of staying in a wheelchair so I turned it down,I get by best I can these days nice to hear your story |

Suffer badly from that nasty thing.
One of the best exercises my physio gave me. Take a small bag, or long sock. Put few tennis balls inside and roll your bum and leg on it for 5-10 min daily. It really does the trick. Plus swimming exercises. |

The pain is horrific. I got stuck in a car park for about an hour because I couldn’t bear the lightning bolt pain when I tried to lift my foot off the ground to get into the car. Naproxen was the only thing that worked for me. Amitriptaline did nothing. |

Have had back issues on and off with years so anyone with back issue and pain will understand your plight.
At it's worst I take codeine and get epidural. Usually renders me incapacitated. Can be I have to sleep in a sitting position which leads to ultrasounds to ensure I don't get DVT. |

Thank you for all the comments. I can’t take naproxen or Ibuprofen as I am allergic to them along with a few other drugs . Will try to get an appointment with them physio. Hope all you other sufferers have a good day |
