I am not a goth, but why are they so appealing? Is it that streak of adventure? Is it the dark, generally leather clothes? Is it the tattoos and ripped stockings?

The eye makeup is very effective, the confidence is extremely attractive and any that I’ve spoken to have been intelligent which makes them interesting.
Unfortunately I’m just about the polar opposite so the attraction usually isn’t mutual  |

I was never much into goths in my youth as most seemed to wear long skirts and lots of petticoats it was far too much hard work trying to cop a feel where as punk girls mini skirts fishnet stockings... You could have a hand in their knickers in no time...😉 |

It's all changed. There's a brilliant compilation album available "young limbs rise again, story of the batcave ".
That has music that was played at an original, probably the original, goth club.
Yiu can look at it on amazon and get the track list.
Sisters if mercy, the mission and sex gang children were bands loved by goths. |

It varies and has evolved. There's lots of subgenres of "goth" culture too. Because you dress "goth" you can really listen to whatever music you want to though, really.
But as an example... a lot of dark wave, post punk, synth pop, new wave, industrial, dark techno, gothic metal etc. |

I would say the majority of the 'so called goths' nowadays don't actually have a clue what real gothic is. They just think it's dressing up a fashion thing when it's so much more it's a culture ranging from clothes, music, interests, mindsets etc |

a) Black is slimming.
b) Black is flattering.
c) Black is mysterious and dark.
d) Black is super easy, barely an inconvenience to colour co-ordinate if you are a colour blind man. Albeit sometimes you end up looking slightly navy and no one has the heart to tell you.
e) Vampires. And goth women are overly sexualised. In reality, they tend to be good at over-developing their characters in RPG games, needlepoint and having a large wooden box containing 300 silver chains that are now completely impossible to untangle.
Any goth women here are free to debate this. But trust me, I've done the research. |

goth was an offshoot of punk so generally any non mainstream or slightly alternative. The music was wide and varied but one main factor was that there was quite a mythology around it.

looks like you are forming your views based on these modern goths. Most men back in the day looked more stunning than the women. There was a very gender bending feel that's why a high percentage of them became tv/ts.

I listen to symphonic metal like nightwish within temptation etc, I’d describe my look as Romantic goth which has Victorian fashion influences with a bit of Morticia adams thrown in for good measure, I also have a bit of a thing for Stevie Nicks when she went through a bit of a goth phase
