It hasn't really come out of nowhere , it been mentioned for a while that today is the day ,, government legislation to try to stop under18 gaining access to porn sites
You now have to "prove";you are over 18 on each site you use , |

The Changes are part of the online safety act 2023, in which there are phased introduction of the new laws. The one requiring ID for adult materials came into effect yesterday. This isn’t out of nowhere. |

"Anyone know why the crack down on porn has come out of no where? Must be a reason.
"
Let's say a certain horrific mid-20th Century Austrian-German Death Cult banned pornography claiming...
It promoted socio-economic degeneration.
Now, the same then ruling elite ordered some of the MOST horrific atrocities ever seen in humanity, the industrial extermination of millions of people
Fast forward, this very week & the Government of Poland has made public safety advice to ALL citizens living in Russia or whom visit such as on it's eastern border to urgently leave / no longer visit.
Using common sense, a NATO co-ordinated strike of significance against Russia is going to occur sometime in 2025 with my guess being September to mid October
The majority of consumers of Pornography are Men with the more ejaculations resulting in LESS aggression.
By reducing something many have enjoyed for nearly 30yrs due to it being in vast categories of personal choice e.g
BBW, Lezdom, Gangbang, German, Bukkake etc.
It WILL cause MORE aggression in The UK very VERY quickly in Males particularly as heterosexual relationships are at ALL-TIME toxicity levels.
I know at least 6 Men personally as friends 35yrs to 45yrs age bracket that have decided to quit having any interest intimate &/or romantic relations with women instead they enjoy or should I say enjoyed online Adult Entertainment.
My worry is that with the ban - a huge increase in violence is going to occur such as road rage incidents
Even, mundane things such as unwittingly bumping into somebody on the street, supermarket in a queue, crowded public transport.
It's been in my opinion deliberately activated during the summer as large amounts of the population are distracted by summer foreign holidays yet it's REALLY going to get moody when September arrives.
Other Western European nations in NATO - European Union are soon to activate this ban with The Republic of Ireland in the autumn.
It's not looking good on a micro & macro basis. |

"Anyone know why the crack down on porn has come out of no where? Must be a reason.
Is this a joke, you can't be seriously asking this question?"
The argument is to protect a certain section of society.
Yet, where is the same concern of this when incidents of violence in that certain section of society IS increasing at worrying levels.
Some academics involved in criminology are now putting forward the idea / theory that harsh custodial sentences must be implemented due to the example created by Nayib Bukele - President of El Salvador taking that nation from the MOST violent place in The Western Hemisphere to now the safest.
Part of the motivation was a certain age set or bracket was committing more & more violent crimes with little fear of the legal circumstances due to age being a factor.
President Bukele changed that ANY breaking of the law was & still is to be punished. The safety of all was the reason why.
Now, the UK Government has NO action plan on the reduction of basic crimes such as shoplifting or street level theft of mobile phones that is normally done by a certain age range
It's not about public safety, this firewall. |

100% not come out of the blue.
100% in favour of this. So what if I have to prove my age to view. If I want to view, I prove. Simple.
If it helps to stop my children and other kids accessing material they are too young to see, then I’m all for it. |

@Razzyberry,
A great theory laid out.
When you factor in the lessons that were learned during the COVID 19 Era, the "nudging if the population" sort of makes some sense.
Their are people naïve enough to think this is about age verification 🙄.
Not sure about WWIII but seems very strange all this talk about external threats when society is changing under our noses.
The power of central government of knowing what each man or woman's interests are on a sexual level could lead to maximum manipulation of individuals by the state. |

Nobody wants their children seeing anything they’re not mentally/emotionally ready for, but my experience (father of 2) is that social media actually is more commonly used for teens to share their own and each others very personal stuff. We might be the exception, but THAT is a real issue |

I’m one of (many on here) the generation where growing up through my childhood and teens porn was magazines and videos. I remember as a 10 year old, me and a couple of friends found a couple of magazines and stashed them. It was still a case for full xxx stuff, you needed to go to specialists, not so easily accessible. The sex industry has a better reputation generally these days and porn is pretty much at everyone’s fingertips. We just need to take responsibility to educate younger people about healthy sex and try and prevent things getting to those unable to process it. Not everyone who sees porn at a young age will turn into a deviant, but there’s plenty of porn still that could give developing minds the wrong ideas of healthy sexual relations. |

If kids want to access porn, they will find a way. Just in the same way we used to when we were younger.

"Well it didn't take long for the conspiracy theory bullshit to start.
All this anti establishment crap is getting really boring."
Indeed. So far this been related NATO, an invasion of Poland, and El Salvador. I'm not quite sure what what they are saying but conspiracy theories aren't always clear.
It strikes me as a bit OTT say that steps to make porn less accessible to underage people is anything other than trying to protect children. |

Do people live under a rock? 😂
This change has been coming for ages. If people paid more attention to the world around them and showed a bit of interest in current affairs they'd know things.
I guess ignorance isn't bliss 🤷🏻♀️ |

"Anything that states it's for "your safety" means it's all about removing your rights and the Gov having more control over you.
This bill is about doing exactly that.
"
You're using a website that's affected by this, so presumably happy that children will be prevented from seeing age inappropriate materials. It's not just porn content that is deemed unacceptable for them. |

Speed limits on roads?
Food standards?
Age restrictions on buying alcohol, fireworks and cigarettes?
Building regulations?
Health and safety laws?
Allergy warnings on foods?
Yeah. Anything described as being in relation to 'your safety' is simply about control and removing your rights.....🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ |

I heard the government got a new router and don’t know how to lift the firewall on adult sites for us all. 🤷♂️ |

The key issue is the ease with whuch children can access porn, increased sexualisation of the young, associated porn addiction and linger-term issues regarding relationships for those children. So all good stuff really. |

This!! The government aren’t trying to stop you from watching porn they are simply trying to make it harder for UNDERAGE people from accessing it or accidentally seeing ADULT material. |

"Can’t even have a wank in peace any more , anyone can just create a new email address with age corrected to what’s needed
Thats not how it works.
Can you elaborate? "
How does creating a new email address (which are freely available and for which no age or ID is required) get around the new requirements to access adult content online?
I'll wait. 🤷♂️ |

I guess tthst ultimately all e-mails can be accessed - none are private any more. So there is some value, at leadt for those e-mails are regularly used...

There's a little of people getting bent out of shape about this. Do you want your kids accessing harmful porn? Most people would say no. So that's what it's for. It's not to stop you knocking one out while your waiting for you cheese toastie to cook 🙄 |

If parents did their duty properly and blocked XXX websites from their children's PCs then there wouldn't be this problem for us adults who like to watch porn. Yet again, society as a whole suffers because of irresponsible parenting. I am starting to think that all parents should undergo a suitability test before leaving the maternity hospital. |
