Most women will look at the profile before opening the message, if at all. If the profile doesn't appeal to them they will leave it unread or delete it.
You haven't asked for profile advice...but there's a few telltale signs that tell me why they may be reluctant to open, let alone respond. |

They have probably been read when you are offline and then marked as unread to make you anxious about your messages not being read.
The best thing to do it remove everything from your sent box so you don’t get anxious about your messages not being read  |

You know you can add your own personal notes about a profile to remind yourself you've messaged someone?
Also, I'm fairly sure that if you message someone who hasn't replied to a previous message from you, a warning banner pops up which you have to actively dismiss, so you'd know that you've previously messaged them (unless that's changed since it last happened to me). |

If they can read the whole message from the preview there's no need to open it.
Otherwise marking unread reduces the likelihood of being called an ignorant cunt for reading and not replying, so some mark them unread to save hassle. If it's a couple account many will mark unread until both parties have read it 💜 |

I have email notifications whenever we get a message on the couples profile. I can read messages in full on those, which means when I switch to that account I can hit delete without ever opening the message.
If either of us hasn't logged in for a while they'll sit there unread in the meantime.
Quite often there'll be a second message from the same person before we've had a chance to delete the first......🤦♂️🤦♂️ |

It's going to partly be influenced by your profile and how well you've managed to influence the recipient that you might be right for them. This is probably the biggest influence, after their inbox load.
It's probably highly optimistic that you get 1% of the recipient and sender to be mutually compatible.
Your focus should be less about what's read or not and more upon how well you're really communicating who you are and how you look, to the extent and requirements of the message recipients.
If your profile gives close to 100% selling yourself accurately and lets others to be able to assess you for attraction, then you're using Fab's basic tools as good as possible |

I've sent messages that have been left unread for a few days which I end up just deleting.
When I get an email notification telling me I have a message you can view the message there and I'm not sure it notifies FAB it's been read so there's also that to consider. |
