To be serious, I think I've always tried to just start a conversation with someone without it being a case of "chatting them up". I think I need that indication that they're interested in my as well before I talk to them for that purpose |

It's still fun with people 40 and above. They can still remember what it was like back in the pub and club days.
It's a bit different for younger people. I watch them at work and there doesn't seem to be the same flirting and chatting up anymore.
Everyone is so on guard and tech dependent. |

I've never chatted anyone up in person. I don’t even know if I fancy someone until we’ve had a few platonic conversations.
I don’t seem to be the sort of person who gets chatted up in person either. The one time it happened in the last decade, a bloke shouted at me from across a large table at a wedding. He asked my name, then bellowed, “You’re fit as fuck!” My teenage son was standing next to me at the time. He’s blocked out the entire day.

I never do it. It was never an årtform. Even if I attempt it it comes across as peculiar and incongruous, certainly when I try to be flirtatious and convivial in a noisy bar environment. It just doesn't work.
Also, unfortunately, women don't walk around with Post-It notes stuck to their foreheads saying "I'm single" or "currently looking". |

To be fair… even though yes I am taken HOWEVER, if I’m out in a bar etc and someone takes the time to approach me and strike up a conversation I will definitely give them my time (obviously stating I do in fact have a partner) to a certain extent because It’s certainly not easy doing so to someone you find attractive and I do admire the bravery involved! |
