So one thing I really don’t understand and tbh I think it spoils the site is the amount of profiles that list themselves in London when they’re in for instance places north of Peterborough. I understand that if you’re in other countries that fab doesn’t cater for those options but maybe fabs should. Eg having chat rooms for the Balearic Islands etc so that when you search for people in London they are. |

Some people dont put their proper location for many reasons.
Examples are they are away from home and looking to see who is about or they don't want people knowing where they are for their own personal safety reasons |

I think someone would have to go that extra 100 miles let alone extra mile if your in London and you just list yourself in London or any other town or city for that matter. These people I’m referring too also list as looking for meetings in London then when you ask for a general area of London to get an idea of proximity you both that’s when you learn they’re in that part of London called the outer Hebrides 😂 |

I don’t put my actual location because I’m not meeting, however even when I was I didn’t put my actual exact location. I live in the arse end of nowhere. Putting the nearest big city makes sense.

if you put the exact town or city you're in it increases the number of messages you get, London is a big place if you put my hometown of Kendal in Cumbria you can only ever be 3 miles from somebody in the same town,
If you're vague you can never be in who's near or local updates |

Nobody outside the town we live in, except for those living quite close, will have ever heard of it. Most people outside of the two nearest larger towns haven’t heard of them either. We’ve used various different ways to distinguish our location on our profile but none have really been successful. We get messages daily from people in London, despite it being a 90 min drive to the nearest part of London and 3 hours drive from the far side.
If you’re not a site supporter to don’t get the gps data so knowing a persons location in advance can save time not messaging people who are too far away.
And whilst someone from Peterborough saying they live in London would be annoying, it’s the profiles that say “near you” etc which are the most annoying. We had a message from one recently and they sounded like the type of guy we’d meet from their profile, but the location was “near you”. We didn’t message but they messaged us so we asked where they were from. I won’t say what their answer was but it got them a block. |
