My favourite movie of all time.
Went to Edinburgh to see the Iain Shaw play. Spooky how much he resembles his dad.
50 years on, and I still think it’s one of cinemas finest blockbusters.

Not only is it a great movie, but Jaws solved a decades long Jane Doe case.
A body of a woman was found on a beach near where the movie was filmed, shortly after filming was wrapped up.
The body was decomposing, and there was no missing persons that fit the description. All they could go by was the clothes she had on.
Years later a detective was watching Jaws and noticed one of the extras fit the description of the Jane Doe, and the clothes she was wearing in the scene were a perfect match.
They managed to find out who the extra was and matched her to the Jane Doe, solving the case. |

I was a stinky kid also, because of Jaws.
When I was around 5-6, I was convinced the shark could get to me in the bath.

Whilst it is a great thriller it led to the demonisation of sharks and a killing spree. For this reason, the writer of the book the film was based on, Peter Benchley, has said that he regrets writing it and is heavily involved in shark conservation. |

"I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific". He also added that actors get paid the same for a bad movie as a good one, and his payment from the film bought a house for his mother. |
