How in the world, can you have a collision with one?
Yesterday, while having moved onto the outside lane of a dual carriageway to let a bunch of traffic onto the inside lane.
One of which was a model x Tesla....who decided to oversteer into my lane.
How'd da fuck on one of those can you do that? (My non autonomous car has all kinds of alarms going off, and the steering tends to 'You arn't going there, unless your indicating and no white lines.')
It was Birmingham though.  but the driver, bless his cotton, was apologetic. |

Bloody technology in cars. I had a rental vauxhall thing recently and while moving to the right to avoid a car that was drifting into my lane, the bastard thing tried to steer me back into the offending car. Give me back my mk1 MX5 please. A much simpler way of motoring. |

Could at least service a MK1 MX5....Nowadays it's pay a lot of money to someone you hope, knows what they're doing....
I had a puncture on the motorway recently. No spare tyre and didn't fancy my chances with the traffic.
Turns out, even if I had of managed to get the gunk inside the wheel. Wouldn't have made much difference. Still needed a new tyre.
Modern tech...a license to print money, perhaps? |

Another reason why I don't own a modern car and have no desire for one.
Too much tech, failure prone, expensive to maintain, made with planned obsolescence in mind. Let's not even talk about lack of personality of design in general.
The sweet spot for cars, I feel, was between the late 90's and 2010/2012. Just enough tech and sophistication, but reliable and not unnecessarily complex.
I'll hold on to my 2003 car for as long as possible. |

It’s definitely possible as the “warning systems” are not as invasive as they appear to be in other vehicles.
It seems to be to do with the collision prediction software but I do agree it should be nearly impossible to crash one. |

I'm sure the Tesla driver was in manual mode. I drove my brother's Tesla Y over Christmas from London to Birmingham manually.
I find the tech a god send if you know how to use it. The key being you have to learn how to use it properly. It takes a lot of driving work off the driver's hands. |

I thought full autonomous driving was not yet allowed in the UK yet. My BYD will start telling me to get my hands back on the steering wheel, when am using the self steering stay in lane features on it. |

I think the point he’s making is that most modern cars even cheap ones wouldn’t allow you to do this even with all the tech turned off they prevent you from crashing now |

"Auto driving is illegal in the EU and UK, where as in the US it's full auto driving. In UK, the level of auto driving is much more like cruise control. "

what happened to using your feet to accelerate brake and change gear ,, hands to steer ie left / right. And eyes to look through the windscreen at the road or is your mirrors

I've not been in the slightest bit impressed with the extremely poor driving standards I've seen from them all, so far. I don't know if they are modelled on a skip, so there's less surprise, when carted off for recycling, slor what.
They're also fashioned from low grade camera systems, that don't give the compressive road data that all other car tyres are being designed with. Musk reminds me of the Emperor and his clothes |

It not allowed yet, but there's actually 5 levels of automation. My car has up to level 2, which is smart cruise control and lane assist. It allows me to take my feet off the pedals during a long journey, particularly on the motorway. You still have to concentrate and steer but it just reduces the workload. |
