What’s been good? What do wish you hadn’t wasted your time watching, my favourite so far this year is ‘Warfare’ a brutal watch …. How about you?

Not seen any good films worthy of mentioning this year yet. Black Bag was terrible (in my opinion).

I thought warfare was very disappointing.

Warfare I thought looked as if it was being really honest about combat. That’ll either be a good thing or bad for certain viewers. I never served in a combat situation but I did recognise soldiering and how it can be tedious then tense quite quickly.

But to answer your question, recently watched The Long Walk, I thought it was Ok as with the story in the book it had its moments.

My favourite film of 2025 is 28 years later and I can’t wait for the next film from the trilogy.

Carlisle usually

I really enjoyed I Swear last week. Not usually something I'd actively choose to see but mother wanted company for the cinema and it was actually very enjoyable 💜

Another vote for "Sinners",

I also enjoyed James Gunn's "Superman". I am looking forward to his "Supergirl" with a cameo from the Main Man.

Awesome - Sinners, Weapons, I swear

Good - The long walk, One Battle after another, Eddington, Life of Chuck, Together, Bring Her Back, F1, Ballerina, Warfare, Companion

Meh - Mission Impossible final reckoning, Black Phone 2, Materialists, Big Bold Beautiful journey, Black Bag, Mickey 17

I had to refer to my own ratings on IMDB to make this post

I've hardly seen anything, though caught Heretic, with Hugh Grant

, in a very different role from his typical ones, at the start of the year. Was good enough

Forgot about that. I thought it was really good and he makes a very convincing baddie!

I was expecting a lot more in terms of background on his protest side. Born in the USA seemed to appear from nowhere in particular. Guess if you know more about him you can fill in the gaps

But the film focused on just one period of his life, the creation of Nebraska. It wasn’t meant to be everything. The film itself was just like Nebraska. Personal, intimate. Not looking for commercial success but to tell a specific story.

It was amazing seeing him in a totally different type of role. He shows his talent very well

The person I went with had that understanding too. Think I was looking for the wrong thing.

I might catch it online.

Reviews said it was like a really long NIN video, I can’t decide if that’s good or bad.

Even in some of the moments where I felt like crying I ended up laughing at some of the fantastic humour. I’ve not seen a film like it in ages. What a film.

Avatar was too long. But unlike what the review say, I liked this better than the second part.

"It was just an accident", an Iranian movie was amazing.

Frankenstein and Wake up Dead man on Netflix were good.

Train Dreams, also on netflix, was very poignant and beautifully shot.

"Sentimental value" was decent. I personally feel it's being overrated
