Labels aren't important being honest is.
Pretending to be in love with anyone, creating a life together only to leave when the stress of pretending to be something your not gets to much to bare. Especially if you were always on doing it to appear 'normal' to bigoted family members.
Luckily I don't think it happens as much now the world is more open |

I hate the word label in this context. You are what you are but i’d still prefer to know. I’m bi. It’s what I am, I don’t feel labelled. My daughter has special needs, it’s important it’s known in certain situations. It’s not a label it’s what we are. |

"I think people are really too complex to label sufficiently.
I think being honest is important though, you shouldn't be disingenuous. "
This. It's one of my bug bears when people aren't upfront and state they're one thing, when they really aren't.

I love labels they are a very important part of life for example when i come to fuel my car up i need to know which is the right pump to pick up if they were all the same with no labels it would be pot luck.
Similarly if i have a food allergy when i walk into a supermarket and everything is in plain generic packaging how do i know which foods to avoid?
I can see why it frustrates some people but not everyone and everything is exactly the same.

Sounds like you've got a bee in your bonnet about certain men, OP?
I don't like being labelled in a sexual context, as what I like and enjoy varies, and I feel like my sexuality is fluid and changing in many different aspects. I don't like being pigeonholed into a category. |

Not at all, I like them. These are not my words, I'm just curious what other people think. I like to read different views |

I personally dont like labels as they reduce people down to certain qualities. Everyone has so many unique and individual characteristics that fall outside of what labels can define. As long as you are happy in yourself thats all that matters. Life is way too short to try and define every single thing |

I'm not really a fan of labels if someone can explain in a way I understand. Though sometimes its easier if they can signpost something for me.
It has taken me some while to understand myself and yes I've put a label on my bio bc it helps explain things more than I could do myself |

People are so weird about this topic.
As someone mentioned above, having a medical diagnosis and therefore a label helps with the support people get from a medical point of view which can lead to further support in school or at work (not to mention the I'm assuming enormous relief to the actual person/their friends/family at having validation/understanding). So I can't imagine anyone disagreeing that those labels are important?
In terms of sexuality, I felt like a part of me was missing or unexplained until I came across the labels I use to describe my sexuality. It helps me. |

The right to wear those labels, LGBT were hard earned, getting to a point where we were not persecuted by everyone, including the media and gaining some sort of equal rights was a long and hard battle especially through the 1970s and 1980s where many, me included were closeted through fear, some didn't make it through. So yeah, I've earned my label and am bloody proud of it. |
