With so much grumbling and negativity in the country and on here perhaps its time to take stock and be thankful for what we have.
The world is not perfect, never will be, the UK is not perfect, never will be, life is not perfect, although the very definition of perfect is not known.
Personally. life has its difficulties but I am content with what I have, life is good, if a little difficult at times, the NHS works for us most of the time, we have decent pensions, some of which we paid extra for aided by a decent state pension.
Think of all of the war torn countries around the world, the greed, the oppression, the madness of so many dictators and count your blessings.
Make the best of what you have, have a joke, have a laugh and most of all SMILE and appreciate living in what remains a really good country to live in.
Seasonal felicitations every body. |

This website is so similar to the BBC news.
Good news and happiness is never good news.
Bad news misery whingeing moaning selfishness greed is all good news.
Remember the days when the 10 o’clock news always ended with a smile, a feel good story or tongue in cheek humour.
What a miserable country we have turned into.

I am with you OP. There is not really any other time I would rather be alive than now. There isn’t really any other country I would want to live in than here. Yes things can be shit. Yes they could be better. But having travelled the world I have seen worse. A lot worse. And the past was only better in the imagination. |

"People forget that we are living better now than at any point in history.
Personal viewpoints can obscure that fact, however it remains true.

Nah.
When the matrix said they kept humans at the turn of the twenty first century I reckon they were right 💜 |

Unfortunately the machines fucked up. They were supposed to stop us before social media.

"Trying to find joy in the simple things can give a lovely feeling of contentment. I do try to do this daily.

Absolutely right.
Following serious ill health the sheer joy of being able to leave hospital, to leave the house, to walk outdoors, to hear the birds, to see the river life, was something I will never forget.
Re evaluate your life, consider the positives, take pleasure from the simple things in life, the things we take for granted and when I got the ok to drive again I felt reborn.
I felt like a new man - so did my wife!
Keep smiling!! |

Not that I’m one but how would the families in the UK that are below the breadline put this into practice?
Unfortunately so many people believe we need equality which what we really need is equity. |

Remember too that people joining in forum threads to have a little tongue in cheek moan are enjoying themselves.
Most of us don't take it seriously and a little bit of letting off steam is good for you. |

Fair comment, just a shame that it takes mock negativity to spread negativity innit? |

I don't always want to smile and sometimes I genuinely have nothing to smile about.
I read something recently that said the biggest kindness you can show someone is to let them be. Let them be sad, negative, happy, talk about something they like, enjoy a very boring hobby, stay at home...well, you get the picture.
I am by nature an optimist and I take great pleasure in the small things in life, sunshine on my face, a shared cup of coffee etc but I also know that for some people that isn't possible for whatever reason so I just let them be. |

Not a UK specific problem. Most People need to occupy themselves with something. While some people have found out healthy things to focus on, others watch TV or social media all the time and get worried about something. |

Seeing as how so many of the worlds problems as caused by religion, seasonal felicitations seemed like a non religious way of avoiding the dreaded C word!
