Using AI to communicate and message

So apparently I've heard people have been using AI and ChatGPT to communicate and message on social media apps.

Got me thinking. I wonder how many people have been messaging someone on here and the user on the other end is using ChatGPT or AI to respond in kind.

It is crazy really when you think about it.

Honestly the amount of people that use AI to generate or enhance their profile and messages is absurd.

Just fucking be yourself. Even if the AI does work to get a meet you're not going to have that to get you through the human to human communication.

And then when you call them out on the most blatant tells they say they've never used AI and don't even know what an emdash is 🙄

The problem with AI is over use. If it’s left to flood the internet with AI generated content, then future AI will be using it to learn. Imagine a world where AI is posting and AI is responding to social media, basically it makes the social media pointless.

It really is but it’s also completely futile. Online chatting is one thing but it’s only the first part, you can’t pretend in a face to face chat and people will definitely notice and still reject you in person. Just like if you fake pictures, fake your age, whatever. People notice.

We’ve experienced people using chat GPT or whatever and it’s very obvious in its own way

To be fair, ever since they let it loose to learn from the unwashed masses rather than appropriate and vetted content it's already lost all comprehension.

It absolutely has it's place. But if it's in the middle of a message where everything is in trios and it comes with a slight non hostile challenge and as bland and inoffensive tone as possible, it is just another flag among the parade 💜

The thing with AI is that what we have now is 10 year old technology that has been used in military and other high tech industries. When it comes to us (civilians), the technology that we have is decades old.

AI is pretty helpful for job applications, given that most applications are filtered by AI and there's no point putting yourself at a disadvantage.

But for human to human contact, be a fucking human 💜

The original paper {“Attention is all you need” - great late night read ) that kicked off the current generative AI approach (ie LLMs) was only written in 2017 and it came out of Google. This is totally Silicon Valley driven. The technology is not decades old.

In my opinion, I find people using AI to formulate profile's (pictures and biographies) and to message other people, lazy and un-authentic

Are people's standards really this low these days?

No. AI is taught to use the most truthful information based on multiple sources. It will use the information from the oxford dictionary in your case over the urban dictionary.

AI is nothing but a tool. Ultimately the AI will do what the creater wants it to do.

Totally agree

That's why people on here aren't afraid to use AI as they have no real intention of meeting.

I've used it to check long statements for work meetings etc but you have to be careful AI doesn't put an unwanted slant on messages.

When it comes to AI and messages. AI cannot add personality so it comes across as very robotic. You can slightly change it if you tell it to reference book genres and dating material that's online. But even with that its going to be very robotic in the way it writes a message

I think thats a stretch 😊 they were simulated safety scenarios and the AI was responding to specific programming installed

There have certainly been very concerning incidents when sucicide ideation has been aggravated by AI chat bots though with devastating consequences...which i think is much more of a concern personally

"The problem with AI is over use. If it’s left to flood the internet with AI generated content, then future AI will be using it to learn. Imagine a world where AI is posting and AI is responding to social media, basically it makes the social media pointless.

Yes, there is that. It’s a literal case of AI teaching itself and corrupting

To be fair, ever since they let it loose to learn from the unwashed masses rather than appropriate and vetted content it's already lost all comprehension.

No new crowd sourced auto correct, I absolutely did not mean would of instead of would have, that it's more often encountered written incorrectly doesn't mean I want to write it wrong 💜

So AI is going to learn how to be a chav?

No. AI is taught to use the most truthful information based on multiple sources. It will use the information from the oxford dictionary in your case over the urban dictionary.

AI is nothing but a tool. Ultimately the AI will do what the creater wants it to do.

Not really true. Have you read the instances where AI ‘killed’ a human to remain active?

I think thats a stretch 😊 they were simulated safety scenarios and the AI was responding to specific programming installed

There have certainly been very concerning incidents when sucicide ideation has been aggravated by AI chat bots though with devastating consequences...which i think is much more of a concern personally"

My concern in that regard is the same as any algorithmic drift - that algorithms (not AI, AI is not everything tech) are designed to be sycophantic and to keep you in the system.

You do know that an AI that is unchecked can rewrite it's own programming right?

That's what artificial intelligence is. The ability to adapt

There is no real difference. AGI is just the final product of an AI system. Today's civilian AI is like a 3 year old toddler Vs the genius levels of AI that military and huge tech have

"...and the user on the other end is using ChatGPT or AI to respond in kind."

My dear chap most of our venerated - but delightful - women on here don't even have the gumption, noggin or constitution to use such tools.

It's a moot point for us men: women don't even reply, let alone respond in kind. Kindness is sooo last year. 🩶

I am convinced there is a profile on here that was either created using AI, or someone else wrote it instead of the person. As the bio reads very smoothly, almost like something you'd see on a dating site. Yet their forum post was very hard to read, with spelling mistakes and just no flow whatsoever. I could be wrong though.

.

It's kind of sad in a way. You know, people resorting to AI because they're not confident in what they're saying. Want to jazz it up a little.

I've seen it in veris, bios, forum posts, messages... it's always painfully obvious. I like the little errors, the warmth of a person's actual voice. Not a fan (in case it's not obvious).
