Why is it so hard, without a small mortgage, to get a decent fitting tux, suit, shirt etc?

We're not all made of money and sometimes just want to make a good first impression for the girls- or guys?

Tux most people rent them. Suits buy something decent off the rail then get it tailored - fraction of the price of bespoke.

They are out there, pretty easy to find. Places like M&S and Next have a good selection particularly at this time of year.

Also look out for your local hire shop selling off its hire stock at low prices. That’s how I got my dinner suit and it cost me £35. The shirt and bow tie cost more than that!

Try Charity Shops. City ones rather than ones in quiet areas. I think you can hire things like that too? Just got to be careful with spillages

Suits are not that difficult for me to find but a good quality shirt that fits my shorter stature but ridiculas neck size is tough for when i need to wear a tie.

I recently googled shirt tailoring and found a site that adjusted and tailored all shirt measurements.

PM me if you need it OP. (Dont think i can post a website address without getting into forum bother)

I would try trawling some charity shops, dinner suits are usually worn once or twice then end up not fitting or the owners no longer needing, you can can it altered by a tailor if it’s not quite right. I got a decent one from Burtons that I used for a few years and as someone else mentioned M&S have some reasonably priced ones, including shirts. Good luck OP

You can get a really decent quality tux for £150 these days. I buy a new one every couple of years as the styles go out of fashion so fast. Next is good for decent quality, cheap tuxedos. Vinted is also a superb source as most peeps buy a tux to use once.

A tailor made shirt is a pretty good investment and I agree with the poster above who said buy off the peg and take it to a tailor

I was just going to say Slaters and they alter the items you buy.
