I'm making a 400 mile round trip today to visit a grave that I've only visited once some 40+ years ago

If it is meaningful then any journey is a good thing. Hope you get what you need from it.

Context?

If its because you are bored... probably.

If its a parent but youve been out the country for 40+ years.. no.

And as others say... its what it means to you

I lost my dad just over two years ago now and he was cremated. The grave is of his younger brother who passed at aged 6.

I have been struggling with a few things recently and just feel that it's something I need to do

You’re not mad OP. I lost my Dad over 6 years ago. I visit his grave often as he’s buried near me but I go especially when I want some quiet time and to think things over.

This day is for you to do that. The journey there, the visit to the grave… will be emotional… but I imagine very rewarding. I hope it gives you peace. 🙏🏼

No you are not mad. Follow your gut , follow your heart. It's the only way to get close to what is calling you and eventually feel release.

Enjoy the day xx

In that case then you should and hope it brings peace to you. We often forget that these things do matter for our well being. All the best

If it's a celebrity in an area you can have some nice food and a mooch around, or a relative or friend then it's not a waste of time and money.

I can't see any other reason you would want to visit a grave.

If it gives you comfort it's a worthwhile journey.

Ignore that, not worth paying attention to it. You do what you need to do for yourself

Do it. Weather looks good, bit chilly, wrap up warm, take a thermos (probably not a hip flask given the drive). Sit, have a think, and talk to your lost relatives.

You do what feels right for you. Fuck anyone else. I do something similar myself to visit a resting place.

Be well, be safe, and don't forget the bbq sauce.

Block that idiot and move on. You do what is right for you doesn't matter what others think. If it helps you then do it. I hope that you are OK tho and always here if you need to vent to some random stranger. Life can be so very tough.

Do something nice for yourself too tho maybe half way have a nice lunch or find somewhere scenic to just enjoy. Take care

My father died 7 years 2morrow alone in Tullahomma Tennessee.. roughly 4600 miles away & I’d happily do the round trip , I will b in Vegas late February for a few days where he lived 4 a couple of years. I’ve already got his old address out & I’m gonna do a drive by in a cab if it’s possible.

But go 4 OP

The purpose for your trip and the personal meaning is for you, and I do hope it gives you comfort and helps you to move forward in life.

Now as for the troll, fuck'em! When you look up from your phone screen you see the room you're sat in, they are not there. These people are not in your real life, they present themselves online in a negative manner that masks their own vulnerabilities. Don't feed their ego by responding to them, you hurt these people more by ignoring their demands for attention.

Have a safe journey today, be yourself and let yourself feel whatever you need to.

Do what you want to or need to do. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks about it.
