I have shaved for years now and never had a problem I have shaved a few of my partners as well and thankfully they liked it so much I got to do it a lot lol.

Alot of lotions have perfum and stuff in that just irritate more.
A hot flannel then a cold onoe to close the pores seems to work well.
And E45 to soften the skin.
Also shaving regular not just before a meet seems to be better too
