Maybe he isn't in to it and that is fine. People shouldn't be expected to do anything they don't want to.
Fingering can be great it can also be bloody sore when people have no clue what they are doing. Especially when they just whack fingers into you from the start thinking it is what should happen. I would also prefer if someone did not do it unless they enjoyed it just the same as I won't do anything I don't like just to keep someone else happy.

I guess the important question is does his wife miss it? Or have they been together since year dot, so she's never received?
