"Whatever it is, it’s never going for a walk 😂
I take it your taking from personal experience? Was that after a coffee? "
No not from experience, I’ve never gone on a walk for a first date. It’s just all a bit too meh for me, unless you live somewhere picturesque, even then I’d still have something else planned after.
It depends what you both want to do tbh, just ask her what type of thing she’d like to do and then plan it. If she offers to go 50/50, don’t accept it. Make sure you confirm the dates still on, on the morning of it so she knows it’s still going ahead. Good luck 🤞 |

Fair point but getting a joint decision - does not show you know how to take lead as such IMO |

I think there’s a balance between a guy taking the lead, but also her doing something she wants to do and not just going along with it. Just give her a few options and let her pick, then you do the rest with planning it. Then you’re still taking the initiative but she’s also happy because she had a choice of what to do |

Some of my first 'coffee' dates have entailed extended walking, with breaks, in an årt gallery or some culture emporium. Ambling around the artefacts and artworks, piping hot coffee (or mulled wine) in hand, with a pocket full of hope and a bagful of laughter and smiles. It's a date with a twist.
Other scenarios have also been quite joyful... ... ... |

You live in London though you’re never far from something fun to do if you’re walking. My ideal first date is doing things like going to a museum, but I guarantee no man asking me for a walk where I live has a museum planned enroute 😂. I’d be lucky to get a Costa at the end I’m sure |

"I heard a woman tell me Minigolf was a good date
Anything 'mini' sends bad vibes on a first date.
Even a mini skirt ?"
Good point ! Or a Cadburys Mini Egg.

OP is from Birmingham so he could take her to Cadbury world tbf 😎. That sounds pretty fun for a first date. If you hate each other at least you get a goody bag to take home and eat while you’re crying |

We should just call minigolf "golf" and normal golf "giant golf" to avoid emasculation. |

Challenge accepted. I shall plan an årtfúl ítínerary around The National Arboretum. A carafe of mediocre West Country 'brandy' to keep us company and a pamphlet to guide us around the silvan glade. |

I'm not that insecure about my masculinity to have to change the wording on activies to fit within social norms, Minigolf is fine |

You’re wasted on here. It would probably be the only time I’d agree to a walk on a first date (or more of a stagger but the alcohol would make the walking more fun) |

I think I'd prefer a first date with someone with a small penis than a psychopath. |

Brandy has an inexplicable way of dispersing any notion of a "social" or a "meet" (awful words) and replacing them with a "date". 🍷 |

"I must be in the minority - I'd rather not do any of that on a first date and prefer just a drink/chat/walk/food and save something fun after I know I'm interested."
Strong agree. All these activities too much pressure with a stranger! |

Do they still do the melted chocolate at the end of the tour, that was the highlight for me, but I went more than 10 years ago. |

Something fun that you both can enjoy. It's intense meeting a stranger for the first time so relaxed environment is better. I know some women like to be wined and dined n shit but personally staring into someone's soul across the dinner table is a nightmare! |

First date? Just a drink or a coffee. The shorter the better! In fact keep the first couple of dates short (ish) and nonchalant and then if interested, extend the length (oh er!).
I’m very shy and introverted so like to acclimatise myself to people slowly, like the weirdo I am! |

Do they still give freebies at the end. It's been a very long time since I last went there. |

"Perfect first date is a coffee or a pint and a good old chinwag. Nothing fancy. The person you’re having the date with is by far the most important part. "
Pretty simple and straightforward. Apologies if I have offended you previously by the way. |

"Just wanted to hear a woman's perspective on this - what has been a good first dating experience for you in terms of location or activity? "
When I lived and worked in Cannes, when Tinder first came out, it was standard first date in La Bar vin, wine and cheese board and then finish the night at the cabaret in the tranny bar at 2am. I'm old school, my father thought me right.
Drinks, dinner and a show.
Second date was always the same too. The following weekend, Saturday night @ Club L'Absolu (the best swingers club in France)

..yes, as OP asked, coffee and maybe a stroll somewhere, if nice. (short & sweet), keep it keen for more ..😘 |
