Somewhere In The Ether…

Good folks 😃👋🏻

How well do you cope with any given task when put under pressure?

Said pressure could take many forms: Time constraints, an expected and requisite level of perfection, extreme scrutiny by another as you perform the task etc.

Do you actively thrive and perform better when under such pressure and perhaps actively welcome it as a challenge, or else does such pressure prove highly detrimental to your performance?

The level of procrastination I exhibit would seem to imply that I thrive under time constraints.

The implication is incorrect

😂 My saying is, ‘Why do today what can be put off until next week….or even next year’ 😜👍🏻

Another procrastinator here, I've done some of my best work last minute and under pressure. Would it have been better if it hadn't been? Almost certainly.

I work quite well under pressure bits of my job are always under pressure to do something very quickly and make an instant decision as to what.

But things at home and such I fanny about with and start kne thing before I finish another so a bit of pressure would do me good.

I work best under pressure, otherwise my mind wanders and I allow other things take over.

You get used to it, however alot of pressure over a period of time can result in quite serious burnout. You need a place to get it out, and relax..

So it's less about the moment, it's more about longer term impacts and how you manage

I purposefully procrastinate with work tasks as I produce my best work when under pressure.

Other stuff... Nah, I get in and do it straight away. Unless I've forgotten to write down what I need to do in which case I'll forget to do it altogether!

I work so much better under pressure but I'm not a procrastinator at home either, if it needs doing, it gets done

I would agree. If there's deadlines then I'm fully invested. If I can allow something to drift, then I usually will.

I myself definitely work better and produce subsequent better results when working at my own pace, sans pressure.

I have nothing but respect and sympathy therefore, for anyone working and coping in high pressured environments - medical staff, catering etc.

Always work better under pressure. Pressure of time or difficulty. If something is too easy or I have a long time to do it I get too easily distracted by something else.

I used to love exam conditions at school. Hated having two weeks to do some coursework.

That hasn’t changed into my adult life.

I'm constantly under that sort of pressure. I just focus on the task and not worry about the other things.

If I did I think I'd be a burnt out wreck my now

I wouldnt say ive been under any sort of pressure in civvie world. Im to laid back to allow it to bother me. Any time someone gives me a dead line or target etc, my reply tends to be "it gets done when it gets done" followed by a polite instruction of what the can do with themselves.

Army days, I thrived on the pressure.

Its always better to be busy that have sporadic events pop up that take your time up.

Having a busy day you can get to the point and cut through the mud, when you have down time it seems any simple task takes three times as long.

Working under pressure only works out if you've put in the prep first.

People who leave the hard work and big decisions until the last minute may feel energised by that strategy but are far more likely to fuck things up. Its often about lazy people giving the impression of being dynamic.
