Can tottenham get relegated?

Who else is as surprised as me of tottenhams downfall from not so long ago was in the top 4, but now in a relegation battle with the chance of getting relegated with just 1 point above west ham? Many tottenham fans are worried about it and are thinking if the unthinkable could happen.
It would be interesting to see what your view of the reason of their downfall is and what you think happened, is it all down to the management or the players or a mix of it?
I think that there is a mix of reasons for it. I also looked at the time line to see when they started to slide down the table and it seems that it comes around the same time with levys exit, but I am not sure, lets hope that they can manage to stay up too

I don’t know :/ 4 teams that could go down makes it less likely as the other 2 places are already decided. It would be funny as if it happened but things so rarely happen that we want to |

No skin in the game as my team isn't in the top flight.
I would like it if a top flight London team believes they don't deserve to go down, but actually does.
20 or 21 teams in the championship have been in the top division since it's 'premier league ' and premiership type names. It's not the easiest to get out of.. |

The club ownership have to take a lot of blame, trying to run a premier league team on a budget does not attract top players, the amount of injuries hasn't helped either I think the medical team need an overhaul because something is very wrong. And of course the players themselves |

I really don’t understand why Spurs are considered a big club. It seems to me it’s because they are a London club, if they were based elsewhere in the country then they would be like a Blackburn or a West Brom; occasional success but usually pretty mediocre.
They have an amazing stadium but they are not immune from the threat of relegation, maybe the cost of the shiny new stadium has severely reduced their playing squad budget and that is being felt on the pitch. |

The stadium they have is unreal, it'd be crazy If it became a Championship stadium. They really went all in building it.
From the outside it looks like they are a very poorly ran club, manager changes every two minutes it seems and can never hold on to their big stars. Kane, Bale etc. Throughout my life they've always been considered a big club, but I don't see them any bigger than the likes of Everton or West Ham or even Newcastle. Maybe going down is what the club needs, kick up the arse and rebuild from the bottom. |

As an fan of The Arsenal I'm probably in the minority, as much as I think their plight is hilarious 😂 I'd really not like to see them relegated.
1st the honest hard working normal supporters who hand over hard earned cash don't deserve the shit. The owners do but not the actual fans.
2nd.
The north London derby is a staple of the football calendar and the rivalry certainly keeps it fun.
3rd.
London club innit, as a London lad I'm always going to side with a London club vs northerners
4th.
Who we gonna laugh at if they are playing in a different league? |

Spurs have this place in London lore that if you are asked who they hate most…. It’s probably spurs!
Arsenal fans… its spurs
Chelsea fans… it’s spurs
West Ham fans… it’s spurs
Palace fans… Brighton… then spurs!
The woes of them at the lane is the one thing that keeps London in harmony!
The fact Chelsea could potentially send them down at the bridge is the one thing keeping Chelsea fans from going mental at the moment….. Especially if arsenal are also in a position to potentially throw the West Ham game |

Really hoping when it comes to West Ham on the 9th may we dont need to choose between beating them and securing the league or throwing the game and securing thier relegation...
Im genuinely torn on what option id prefer |

"If they did go down.
And I have said if...
Would they be good enough to get out of the 1st Division the following season 🤔"
Doubtful, they will lose players who dont want to play in that league plus i think they have a clause where if they are relegated the players take a pay cut to what they're on now..
Lose a couple or several and they'll struggle from the off..
Plus they'll lose revenue and some fans, not the die hards will slope off too.. |

Even though its 6 points a season they need to go down even if it's just the show they're deluded fans that they are not a big Club take them out of London move them anywhere north of Watford and now just a club that had a little bit of success and one of you cups a bit like Preston and if the bigger Club in the relegation battle Nottingham Forest who have won leagues and European cups beat them this weekend they hopefully should be staying up also West Ham bigger Club they won the 66 World Cup don't you know! |

"Well being a Arsenal supporter the ideal end of season would be Arsenal winning the title and spurs relegated "
You would miss the derbys. But as a Spurs fan I am not surprised. Its been coming, Kane and Son papered over cracks. We have no youth coming through that care about the team.
It can't always be the manager, the fans have to take some blame too. Expecting instant success and turning on managers left right and centre, then the board listens fires them, and the whole shit show starts again.
Board have been negligent too. In terms of recruitment and sales.
Not surprised, it could happen. I hope it doesn't but everything needs to change.
We need (annoyingly) to do what you have done, get a manager in, allow him to follow his vision, give him time. And... because we are in a worse starting position than you were, accept the utter shiteness that will come for a while whist the rebuild is happening. |

When was the last team that got to the knockout round of the Champions League AND got relegated from the Prem. Has there ever been one? |

Hope so. And as a derby fan,i should be hoping forest go down, but want to see sky sports panic when/if. one of their golden super 6 clubs drops down. The big up these clubs, some who have won nothing for years, but cuz they have money, a big shiny new stadium, they automatically class them as the big 6. Chelsea were nothing till roman, city nothing till etihad, spurs still nothing.. so heres hoping west ham and forest find a bit of form in last 8 games |

3:0 against Forest.
Really don't want West Ham going down as that will cost all Londoners. BBC reports:
"Under the terms of the agreement they signed with then Mayor Boris Johnson ahead of their move to the former Olympic Stadium in 2016, their annual rent will be cut in half should they go down. That would leave them paying just £2.2m a year.
"Furthermore, the running costs of the additional four home games would also have to be met by the Greater London Authority, leaving the cost to Londoners at around £2.5m a year."
Bloody Boris Johnson, if it wasn't shafting the country with Brexit, then the No. 10 parties, it was his role recklessness as Mayor (take this stadium, but also the waste of money of the failed ventures with the Garden Bridge and Boris Island Airport) |

I brought this up on another thread here and also on a social media post I saw and on both occasions got told that I was full of shit and this wasn't true.
The fact that Talksport devoted an entire hour to it one day and discussed it in detail was also a figment of my imagination too apparently so it's nice to see someone else able to do their research. |

They're considered big due to having high revenues generally. Think you make a good point and if they were located elsewhere then maybe not so much. They've finished fairly well in the league quite a lot though without ever actually doing anything. They're definitely the least convincing 'big' team, but their revenue probably has them as part of 'the big 6' more than anything else. |

"Goal difference suggests that Spurs are not of the same class as the real relegation candidates."
If it gets down to goal differences then yes they are in a better position but after playing out of their skin against my lot at Anfield they webr back to how they've been since Christmas..
They needed a talisman type interim manager that the fans would say yes hes had his day but he will sort them out to survive but the club have put Tudor in who is a bit of a maverick and its gone wrong..
To change again might be admitting they're panicking but if they stay up itll be worth it.. |

Someone has 7 games to prevent that trip to Lincoln next season! "
I think they should just invest in a revolving door to the managers office straight in, straight out and a bag of cash waiting upon exit.
I'd love to know how much spurs, Chelsea and man u have spent combined paying off sacked managers, must be a huge amount? |

Can Spurs get relegated? Yes, of course.
Will they get relegated? Difficult to tell. There are plenty of games to play.
Why has this happened? A multitude of reasons. Some of them include the poor management of the club, lack of adequate and consistent investments in quality players, sacking managers, ignoring the manager's requests for signings, lack of direction and desire to compete. Expecting to remain in the top 8 was unrealistic. Plus investing in the new stadium hasn't really paid of yet has it?
The fans are the ones losing out. |

I'd rather West Ham go down. I've got nothing against the fans and don't dislike the club, only reason is their owners profiting from moving from a fantastic ground to a stadium not suitable for football with costs covered by taxpayers. |

As a WH fan... yeah. Sullivan and Brady suck, but I don't think the club and fans deserve the damage relegation may cause (although it could ultimately be a good thing).
We're still trying to get them out, but obviously not a decent prospect for new owners and that's unsurprising given the state of our finances. |

Tottenham haven’t won a home game since December. I think today is the day they win at home and stay up. I expect them to be out on the streets celebrating along the Tottenham High Road and onto the Seven Sisters Road up to the junction of St Ann’s Road. After that it’s Arsenal territory. |

It's a win-win for me, one less London club in the Premier League being replaced with a Northern club.
Spurs going down would be interesting as it breaks the "top 6".
I'd rather West Ham go down. I've got nothing against the supporters, previously had a soft spot for them but hate the owners for knocking down a beautiful ground to sell the land, to then move into a soulless stadium at the expense of the tax payer. The owners had no consideration for the supporters, content with shafting them to line their own pockets.
Regardless of who is relegated, speaking from experience it's horrible being relegated but then having a huge stadium and losing a large number of season ticket holders will cripple the club further. Hopefully whichever club goes down can quickly offload their high earners and have the right manager in place to invest in youth, even if it takes a few seasons to gain promotion. |

"It's a complex one and I've limited football knowledge but my guess is they just didn't kick the ball properly, maybe they have bananas for feet?"
I'm not a Spurs fan but I think the issue is the manager not having a say over the players signed, instead their recruitment team signing players that don't fit the system of the manager.
The manager is then sacked, replaced with another with a different system and the current players can't adapt. |
