Not looking for sympathy, but do you ever find that for no particular reason and in response to no negative events you just feel underwhelmed, uninspired and unmotivated by life?

Or am I just odd?

If you do, how do you conquer the “ meh”?

Constantly, Stanners! I live a fairly reclusive life and have few interests, so very little to fill my time. It’s easy to become despondent, but this place provides amusement and i text friends to catch up; they both cheer me up (usually!).

Otherwise I put on some hardcore rave and have an angry wank.

Yep. I don't have answers though. I usually carry on until I feel more like myself again.

I've got loads of hobbies, friends, an amazing husband, great kids and a nice home but sometimes I just feel a bit bleurgh. It passes...eventually

Yeah, I get touch of the meh every now and then.

I usually try to combat it by doing something with the kids or putting on some comfort music or a classic film

Sit with it. Feelings don't always have to be conquered. If it's a sporadic incident of meh, accept it's there and do low energy things that make me smile.

Those feelings dissipate in time. Remind myself I don't always have to be wonderful ray of sunshine that I am.

"Nope the Meh is real "

It sure is.

To shake myself out of that funk i tend to think of things, people and experiences that made me smile. Its not a quick fix, i'm in a lull now to be honest. I take a little step back from things and slowly rebuild myself. I'm currently sorting my bike out in aticipation of good weather and some decent rides. Looking at a holiday later in the year and my daughters upcoming birthday. Things that make you smile ,

( well me smile )

yes I feel its a common thing..

I sometimes have had this.. and it has happend with no reasonable cue's

I.e. life has been good not got something on my mind, not run down etc

but I just don't feel like I am sparking..

Change of routine and or doing something new or differently brings me back into my flow.

Clinical depression, OCD, Autism (yep, officially diagnosed!) and agoraphobia all combine to make one giant splat of festering dog-meh.

Thank Christ for Tramadol, alcohol, exploitation movies and the most wonderful wife in the world.

(She was a latent perv, too, so even better!)

Other than that, life is largely something to be either endured or ignored.

Yes i definitely do _tanners, been going through a wave of emotions over the past few months. Just started working out again recently, it helps to tire me out and take my mind of things... also go walking often.

Hope you find something that helps you

The body is a crazy thing, so sensitive to even your diet, or an accumulation.of little things you'd never notice yourself.

I have things in my life that have an output and grant an achievement, like cooking. I have music to take my brain somewhete else. Listening to sad songs when meh is always good, they may be sad,but the subconscious relates that meh is a shared feeling, even through music, which cheers me up.

For me it helps doing something nice for someone else. Having a sort out and taking stuff down the charity shop. Journaling and doing a ‘grateful for’ list. Camomile tea and an early night with a podcast xx

A stanza from one of my favourite poems that I will try to translate for you

In the house the celebrations have begun.

But the boy knows the party is somewhere else

and through the window seeks out the strangers

he’ll spend his whole life trying to find.

See I think that young man has made an existential mistake. The causes of celebration and wonder have to come from within; looking for them from without will inevitably disappoint.

I usually get either creative or destructive depending upon where my "meh" mood takes me.

Move on to the next adventure, setbacks are character builders. Life would be boring if it was a piece of piss, and you'll feel more accomplished getting through a shit storm intact ✌🏻

I'm currently in the eye of the perfect storm, it's draining me, but when I get through it, il feel stronger and wiser.

I feel like this a lot. No reason, the meh appears and stays with me a while. Like Meli said above, I sit with it, think why I’m meh then do things to pull me out. Sometimes it disappears on its own, other times I need to make a huge effort when I have the mental capacity to do so. Talking to my friends helps. Even just saying I’m feeling meh and not know why then we chat shit and laugh about stupid stuff that lifts my spirits 😊

I get this. I use it as a sign to reconnect with something I enjoy and take some time away. Sitting in the garden with my guitar is usually my thing but find whatever works for you.

Do stuff, meh is stuck or trapped.. so do things that are freedom and movement, touch grass, walk, climb, dance, run
