I've still got all my old vinyl from my youth and just pre-bought a very limited edition of Muse's new album.

I'm going to buy a player soon.

The price of vinyl is seriously expensive. (Compared to years ago. I've seen in second hand shop windows £40 all the way upto £70.) Just would not pay that kind of money for something if you scratch it. You bin it.

"Ive got hundreds if vinyl albums and singles but no record player."

Same as myself.

Get loads of wee hipsters telling me i should be buying vinyl instead of cds.

They were/are called records. You get them from record shops. The magazine is called record collector.

Vinyks are for hipsters who but what theyre told they should have.

I’ve been collecting records for years. It used to be easy to find good quality bargains but that’s become more difficult now it’s trendy again. Still get a huge buzz when i do stumble across a gem though. Happy hunting

"New records not have the quality these days as most are made using the digital source not like the analogue original records "

On a £40 system from B&M I guess that's going to be irrelevant, unless you have old vinyl from your youth lying around that you want to play again, I'd say low end gear is a waste of money, on an low end to average system, a £40 vinyl is not going to sound any better than a £10 or less CD.

Doing the leg work crate digging like in the old days then finding that long lost classic you have been looking for for over 30 odd years

Discogs is the best on line !

Loads of records here (hate the term vinyl), most bought in the 80s and 90s til we were told CDs were better quality and they stopped making records. Started buying again about 10 years ago when prices of new records were reasonable, about £15-18, but now start at nearly £30! And second hand are now extortionate as everyone believes their old records are worth a fortune. So streaming mostly now for new stuff

Not played a record in years,I was totally against the cd when it came out...but then they became real cheap and to be honest unless you have a decent record deck and a kick arse amp they ain't going to sound good.. and never going have the loudness of a cd,...a record may have a more realistic sound than the silver disc..but as I say so long since I played a record I wouldn't know anymore

Look around for a copy of the soundtrack to the film Times Square (1980).

It's never been issued on CD, but is looked upon as one of the greatest soundtrack albums ever, including Roxy Music, Gary Newman, Talking Heads, The Ramones, The Cure, Lou Reed, XTC, The Pretenders and a load more.

Used to collect 78rpm records when I was young. The only kid in school who transferred gramophone records onto cassette tape. You can still find old 78's for pennies these days. LP vinyls were far too modern for my tastes.

I’ve never intentionally collected them I’ve just bought records since I’ve been old enough to buy records.

I love music and even worked in the music industry at one point.

Think my records now stand somewhere around the 2k mark, though to be honest I gave up counting years ago.

The only downside is they weigh a bloody ton if you’re moving house

Inside your head

My cousin used to own 5 record stores and worked in the local radio

I had hundreds of albums that I had collected over the years, I also owned a number of collectors singles I inherited from my dad and grandad that were originals from the 40’s and 50’s many were worth a fortune

I sold the lot at an auction for around £10,000.

My son recently was given one of those £40 players out of B&M, which has become an ornament. There is a single built in speaker they plays his records in mono rather than stereo never mind digital. So completely worthless

I also punted all my CD’s as I no longer own anything to play them on

I stream everything. Apple, Amazon, Spotify etc I have access to more music than I can listen to. Have made up over a hundred playlists similar to the old mixed tapes I used to make back in the day that I listen to when I’m in the car

It’s very hard to find rare or valuable records in charity shops now as they all scan them on discogs before listing, but it can still happen if you’re lucky

Charity shops hugely over inflate prices too as they don’t really understand how to grade them, much better using record fares in my experience

Used to have loads of LPs, then converted to CDs & more latterly streaming/downloading.

Wouldn’t go back personally, LPs are too inconvenient. You’ll always have people telling you they sound better. I had a very decent turntable, amp & speakers set up back then & if LPs do sound better (personally I’m very dubious) then the marginal gains aren’t worth all the inconvenience imho

Walking to school with a vinyl album under your arm carried some swagger back in the day. 😊

Like most people I ditched the stereo player years ago and kept the vinyls. 😂

Always bought vinyl- prefer the larger format and the sound. Never took to CD - even less 'streaming'. I do have quite a collection as have been buying since 1982 - its not as cheap a hobby as it once was, but I still love it.

Vinyl addict here, massive collection from mums n dads collecting days, I never stopped. Record fairs, charity shops, record collectors mags. Glad to see HMV back on the high street.

Cds although bought, never did it for me, the miniature artwork, dreadful. It turns out they don't last forever.

A mono 45 beats a cd stereo repo.everytime.

You will struggle to find anything good on vinyl in charity shops, car boot sales etc. The vinyl boom has seen the bargain disappear. Second hand record shops and fairs know what to price things at, and its not cheap

Beauty of 1210s and vinyl,is you don't really need to spend a lot for a 2 channel crossfader.

Me and were weighing it up halve on some desks, he sold ev when he got married..(idiot)and all his vinyl.1400-1500 a pair these days, I felt sick, tried to comfort myself, saying, well they're mark 7s though, like were good to be getting into that debate. Vinyls around 20 these days isn't it?
