Do energy drinks ruin libido? I didn't really drink excessively before but since I haven't had one, I've been hornier than I probably have ever been. Like weeks no matter how many times I finish, I'm still ridiculously horny. Have d*unk energy drinks for all my adult life. Also much happier and more positive lately.
If it is the energy drinks, I'll never again drink another, I love this |

"Why did you stop drinking them OP? 💜"
Wasn't even intentional. Just didn't have one. Normally I'd get like a big red bull when driving or on dinner break or packs of them. Or monster. Then I just didn't bother buying any and haven't bought any since |

Men are often more sensitive to the specific ingredients in energy drinks than they are to plain coffee.
?Sperm Quality: High intake (typically defined as more than 300mg of caffeine daily) is linked to lower sperm concentration and reduced motility (how well they swim).
?DNA Damage: Some studies suggest that the high caffeine and oxidative stress from these drinks can lead to increased sperm DNA fragmentation, which makes fertilization harder and increases the risk of miscarriage.
?Insulin Resistance: The huge sugar content in many energy drinks can lead to weight gain and insulin resistance, both of which can lower testosterone levels.
Initially, the high dose of caffeine and sugar triggers a release of dopamine and epinephrine (adrenaline). This can make you feel alert, confident, and "up" for activity. However, this is a cardiovascular stimulant effect, not a true aphrodisiac.
The real issues for your libido stem from how the body reacts once that initial spike wears off:
?The Cortisol Spike: Caffeine increases cortisol (the stress hormone). When cortisol levels are chronically high, the body enters "survival mode," which naturally depresses the production of sex hormones like testosterone and estrogen. Essentially, your body doesn't prioritize libido when it thinks it’s under stress.
?The Sugar Crash: Most energy drinks cause a massive spike in blood glucose followed by an insulin surge. The resulting "crash" leads to fatigue, irritability, and lethargy—none of which are conducive to a high libido.
?Vascular Constriction: Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it narrows blood vessels. Since healthy libido and sexual arousal (in both men and women) rely heavily on efficient blood flow to the pelvic region, excessive caffeine can actually make physical arousal more difficult.
?Adrenal Fatigue: Over-relying on stimulants can exhaust your adrenal glands. When you are "burned out" from artificial stimulants, your natural energy levels plummet, taking your sex drive with them. |

Ah thank you. I will happily go without energy drinks |

This makes for interesting reading. I’m a definite energy drink-aholic |

I like an energy drink, but I go for the sugar-free ones. If I'm tired and have a sex-session later that day, I go for those fizzy energy pills - the ones which come in a tube* and dissolve in water.
This will usually give me enough of a kick to see me through a 2-hour session, and are pretty effective.
*Never trust anyone who - when alone in a room with one of these tubes - doesn't use it as a lightsabre. |

If you're trying to get a healthy body to squeeze excessive energy somehow, as if by magic, there has to be a cost. Our bodies are phenomenal at coping with many extremes, through its natural tuning - I'd prefer to let it adjust itself and respect it. Even if the answer is no, or later.
It seems such a pity to throw shit at our brains, when it, more than anything, needs to be finely managed and treated with care, unlike some piece of kit, that can be thrashed |
