It's okay, no one is telling you off. 🩷 😅 Yeah I understand what you're saying. I always think of middle aged as 40+ and old as 55. It's subjective.
But your actual OP? No, I'm loving this time in my life. I have real savings, mortgage free in a few years, less awkward and more sure of who I am. Still discovering what I love, getting better at having boundaries.
I'm not sitting on a shelf gathering dust. Did in my twenties for a bit, fuck that. |

I suppose I’m middle aged. However, judging by lots of peoples age limits, I’m old. I’m young in my head, and still mentally there, sexually active, fit, healthy. I just don’t like any music newer than Adele. It’s a weird inbetweeny age. |

That is a very positive and true way to look at it. I think i just feel a bit meh like were do i fit at the moment i think its always being referred to as the young one then all of a sudden bam your not anymore. Boo hoo 🤣 |

Yeah, it can be a shock to the system. That in-between stage. I realised I'd aged out of being a sugar baby. Never wanted to be one, was a bit sad to find the ship had sailed though. 😅
You'll find where you fit in, it's a good time to discover you. What's really important. I think that's part of why cougars have that tropw. They've gone through it and know themselves (a bit better). Doesn't mean they can't be batshit crazy but they know they are.  |

I was looking through demographic profiles at work and it stated I was "late middle aged", which was a little upsetting.
Yeah, it's an awkward age if you look at it as in between, but really it's the sweet spot - parts of being younger, parts of being older.
The aging thing has definitely caught me by surprise in the past few years though. |

Thing is, middle age and elderly is very different now to previous generations. Not going to go deep into the reasons because I’m about to go out for the night. My 30s lifestyle was far from what the received wisdom would have as middle aged, and I’m sure that’s how the majority of people would view that decade. I’d go with 40s and 50s as middle age, but I know people in their 60s who’d be horrified to be labelled as old, and who probably have a more active social and cultural lifestyle than their age group in decades previous. |

30 - 50 is an awkward age bracket if you're out of synch with close friends who are busy getting married and spawning. That does mean finding another crowd to run with. Is swinging the answer?

As a woman in my 40s I'm now sometimes seen as an 'older woman ' which for me is a huge turn off as those men are too young.
Talking from my own experience in the dating scene. Its tough to navigate .
Men 7 years younger and up to my age are often settled with family life or are looking for that.
Men my age often only see me as good enough to fuck but not to date..
Or they had issues.
Older men. Somehow seemed either too old or wanted someone younger. |
