"Travellodge have key cards for the lifts"

They also have a policy of letting complete strangers access your room it seems.

"Leonardo next to East Croydon station. Excellent large rooms "

Can confirm the Leonardo near East Croydon doesn't require a keycard to get to rooms, met someone there once, straight past the reception to the lifts, up to the floor find the room and knock...

somewhere about

Sadly because of the travelodge incident most hotels are now in the process of tightening security and limiting people with hotel room access to only those who are named on the booking with id cross referencing. My daughter works for a large worldwide chain. Since this incident the uk hotels in her chain are all due to have keycard only access installed at front door and lift points and anyone asking for a spare key will have their id checked with name on booking and if they left it in the room they are to be taken to the room by staff to show it.
