Not all women want under fifty five. Some do. I imagine a fair amount do which is understandable, isn't it? Women have preferences and age, as much as people say it's just a number, can be a factor.
You can filter searches so you're the age they're looking for.
Look at ways to meet people where age isn't such a factor - clubs, socials, that kind of thing.

It’s an age range preference - just the same as you have an age range preference, OP. Those 18 and 19 year olds wailing with dismay. Works both ways, you know. Your preference, their preference. |

I go for men my age and above. Yes it's really tough on here for older men so if it makes you unhappy find a site that makes it easier for you.
You can and won't change their preferences so just keep searching for those that want men your age and stop focusing on those who don't. |

When you say “all the women” you don’t actually mean that do you. Because there are plenty of women on here who do meet men 55+.
You mean all the younger women.
There be a lot of competition on Fab and if they don’t want to meet older men or whatever their preferences are, there is not much you can do, other than accept it and get on with it.

When I ve been to swinging clubs.I ve often played with people who are on this site with age filters set lower than my 65 years.I look really good for my age and keep in trim.Thats why I have preferred to go to clubs and parties as it's much easier to engage and meet people.(very similar concept to why it seems more difficult to meet someone on a dating site than the normal methods) |

It's not just you op. A lot of men believe there are too many other men on here and that everyone has a cut off of 55.
If they used filters to ensure that their search only returned results where the people were looking for over 55s that would solve one of their problems |

there is a filter in advanced search “I’m the age they are looking for” check box but as already stated on here 55 seems to be the cut off age for most women and couples I’m finding it difficult to actually meet because of that as you can’t even message them |

They wouldn't meet you if you could message them because their preferred age is under 55, it's not you personally they're rejecting it's all over 55s.
I know I sound harsh but it isn't the actual cut off or filter that's the problem it's that preferences exclude people and the problem is only for the excluded ones. I'm 69 my partner is 68 we're out of almost everyone's age range and there's not a damn thing we can do about it so we concentrate (when we are meeting) on the people who will meet us. Of that quite small number some will feel we aren't their cup of tea and vice versa which makes meeting quite difficult but we didn't ever expect it to be easy. |

There used to be a lot of threads claiming that 50 was the cut off point for most women but I was almost 52 when I joined the site 10 years ago and I've never once had an issue with age preferences.
My age has never been a topic of conversation and it has never prevented me from messaging women I'm compatible with.
If I'm outside someone's age filter we aren't compatible so I don't see it as missing out on anything. |

probably pure coincidence that I've noticed the 55 upper age, since my birthday. |
