Depends what kind of nightlife.
There is a village hotel within walking distance, and a pub, cinema and a couple of chain restaurants. Dudley town centre is also within walking distance but has limited nightlife. Some pubs basically. |

"Going to the Black Country Museum and looking for a hotel to stay at near some night life. Is it best to go a bit farther away? "
A bit further, a bit further...little bit more...still more.
On the other hand, Bridgnorth is luverlee. I like to drop in once in a while. Have they fixed that funicular yet? |

I don't think you'll find nightlife but there are some decent pubs that have live bands, in and around the Black Country.
You've got more chance of spotting a nun on these forums than you have of finding nightlife in Dudley. |

Just stay in town, Birmingham is probably less than £20 in an uber from the museum and your nightlife options are endless.
If you stay anywhere around the museum you might as well take some Horlicks and your knitting out with you. |

West Bromwich is quite close to Dudley and has a well renowned swinger club with a hotel next door, you can get the 74 bus outside that takes you straight to Dudley and if you get off at the zoo you can walk round to the BCLM. |

Why do some pubs stay open until 1am if no one is there? |
