Not sure what it is, but I am becoming more interested in fragrances these days as I am spending more money now on cleaning products and perfumes. Either its exposure to this group or perhaps age, but I feel since I've started swinging, smelling as good as I can gives me a better feeling. 🤪 How high do some of you rank a great scent, be to attraction for men or for personal confidence?

I swear I’ve become addicted to the scent of Febreeze.

I used to use lenor unstoppables - little smelly balls you put in with the washing (so many jokes). But I’m now the opposite to you, I’m past the point where I give a shit what other people think of how I smell. Every so often I have a bloody good wash of the worst bits, chisel off some of the diseases and put on my cleanest pants and I’m good to go.

No one likes smelly little balls. Yet ironically they get wet. Life eh?

I like a home to smell fresh, a bathroom to smell clean, I often burn a scented candle in the hallway it's a welcoming fragrance for guests. It's nice to walk into a kitchen and smell coffee or a cake baking or open a cupboard to the perfume of lavender.

I like nice perfume on a man or a woman but not too overpowering. It's very intimate if you can only notice it when you're up close

Paper Town Central, Essex.

Yup.

I loved the smell of febreez when it was added in with lemon too, but I think they stopped making it. Such a shame.

But now my go to is Asda moonflower fabric conditioner.

A good hack is to also add a capful of zoflora midnight garden in with a conditioner. Or add a capful of it into a small ramekin bowl. Top up with water and leave it on a radiator.

Absolutely delightful aroma in the room will soon ensue.

Some have very low standards! My balls just have low orbit

Mrs N, I’ve got visitors next Wednesday - you’ll need to bake me a cake.

Please and thank you.

Its the worst ill be honest. Means a good 95% of society is off limits (might not be a bad thing tbf)

Much prefer someone to be clean rather than covering the smell of themselves or their home with artifical toxic clouds of carcinogens 😂 plumes of soy and corn tainted air, wofts of vanilla 'fragance' its as though people become immune to it and need more and more layers of it in their lives.

But i was asthmatic before i was anaphylactic so i care differently haha

Everyones immune systems react, mine currently just reacts strongly, but if your cat moves out its your plug in thats the reason!

Good grief, what a lily-livered bunch of cheapskate philistines you all are! Get yourselves out there and procure some decent colognes. Fabric softeners indeed.

I remember Bounce, but what really gets the ladies going is Bouncer. The smell of a friendly labrador with a hint of Mrs Mangel's minge sweat.

I was offered sex today with a 21 year old girl.In exchange for that,I was supposed to advertise some sort of domestic cleaning product to my friends.

Of course I declined, because I am a person of high moral standards with strong will power.Just as strong as Ajax ,the super strong bathroom cleaner; Now also available in Lemon scented and Vanilla. 😉

My thoughts exactly. I’ve bought kids clothes from Vinted that feel slimy with the layered up “softeners”.

Or visit homes where there is so much artificial shit in the air I have to change when I get home 🤢

I love the gold lenor scent its lush.

But as I have a kiddo with bad skin pretty much everything has to be fairy as anything else brings out his eczema

Smell is important to me. My senses are very sensitive. Sometimes it feels like sensory overload. It can be overwhelming. I don't like overpowering smells. Something subtle and can only be sniffed at close range is good for me. When you hug someone and get a whiff "oh, that's lovely" is better than "I can't see them but I can smell them, they must be close by".

I feel like I can't breathe sometimes when I enter certain rooms. It's stuffy or there's a weird smell.

Be careful if you have sensitive skin.

Certain washing machine products can cause problems, just check your skin when first trying any new products.

People can have a great scent from very little - big fan of people being clean clean (a Dettol bath wouldn't go amiss, sometimes). Soap can smell good, it's not so overpowering.

Obviously fragrances can add something but it can be a bit much sometimes - it's nice to smell people. Their actual smell.

La la land

When did smelling fresh/clean mean smelling of chemicals? For me it's just companies wanting you to spend more money on shit you don't need.

Plus seriously don't get people buying nice perfume etc but that's all you can smell is washing products.

Fabric softeners are terrible for the environment though... and they fuck up the your items long term (less absorbent towels... weakened fibres....more likely to trap odours...)

Perfume can be cool but the subtle smell of soap can be better..

I am not really attracted to synthetic smells.

Totally this - too overwhelming sometimes

Norwich ish

In clubs there are two distinct smells that cause us to wrinkle our noses. The obvious one is BO and peoples apparent total ignorance of their own. The second over after shaved or over perfumed, you know the kind where they carry around a force field of nose aggravating scent.

Just a bit of anti perspirant and clean bodies is plenty.

Prompted by an ad in my Facebook feed

We don't need whole body deodorants. Most of us are clean enough that we don't smell offensive and people are happy to sit next to us on public transport.

The marketing industry is trying to make us invisible, don't smell like a human, don't look like a human and certainly don't get old like a human

I remember when I was younger you used to use a bar of soap and the smell of the soap would linger on you ALL day. Loved it.

Cameo, Lux, the green Shield soap.

Then my mum bought Imperial Leather and the rest got the boot

When I got to the last year of Primary School I was bought a bottle of Mum Deodrant as I had reached that age where “you might start smelling now because hormones are changing”.

Nowadays hygiene has gone mad.

And back to the OP….

I like someone to smell clean. Sure wear a bit of a spritz of something fancy, but just enough to linger, not overpower.

Cleanliness is next to godliness and all that

I always take bars of Dettol soap on holiday as it helps with prickly heat.

Smells nice too.

Not fabric softener but I've found using scented hangers in the wardrobe make my clothes smell amazing.
