I don't think I've ever been there

. Do you know it and recommend a visit?

Like everywhere, it has good bits and bad bits and is what you make it, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it if you have other choices.

The last time I went there was with a friend from California - he really couldn't get over the fact that the sea was grey!

East London

I've had many great days out there. I've never stayed overnight though.

There's lots of places to eat and drink along the seafront and Adventure Island is free entry-you buy tickets or wristbands for rides if you want to.

The walk along the pier is nice but long, or you can get the train, and there's a restaurant at the end.

There's a Sealife centre not far from a Premier Inn on the seafront.

If the weather is nice and it's not a school day the beach will be packed.

What kind of things would you want to be doing?

Chinnerys along the seafront has live music and there's also amusement arcades.

I've been going there since I was a child.

Somewhere in the middle not the.....

Lived there for many years, its ok ish, typical seaside town. Amusement arcades, sealife centre and Adventure island theme park. Lots of little food kiosks on the seafront and eating in the town, Other than that it has really gone downhill a lot from its heydays but I guess someone living there would see it differently to a visitor x

Avoid that premier inn, stayed recently and it wasnt great, they’re gearing up for refurbishments expansion so no carpark now and cost us 20 quid a day to park in the big park park next door x

Has the Park Inn closed permanently?

The big one at the bottom of the high street that overlooks the pier? No just renamed, now called the Palace Hotel x

I'm pretty open minded Nanna, I'd realisted that I'd thought of it and Essex for a long time and I should get there before schools are out. A little walking, appreciating the coast, which I rarely see and soaking up the atmosphere. I didn't know what was there but have a better feeling for it now. And it sounds like it's worth missing the Premier inn. I've been caring a lot for family, so a little rest is a break.

Thanks everyone for your input

There are loads of little hotels there so you would have no issue finding somewhere nice to stay. X
